Looking back on my posts, I realized it was since March 2015 that I started to look for rings and a pistol scope for one of my Dans. I managed to trade some rings for a 2" shroud with another forum member, bought a pistol scope off eBay that was DOA but I managed to get warrantied from Swift. That process took about 4 months total as I have to use a legal importer for scopes out of the USA even though it was a warranty item as the ITAR laws are convoluted to say the least.
Anyways, I just mounted up the scope complete with the sun shade - that required me to take off the front sight blade. Should I keep the blade's set screw out of the gun? I'm thinking it will back out with recoil if I leave it in there.
I'm not sure what the brand of the rings are, the scope is a Swift SRP6266M 2-6 x32mm that cost me $10 to replace and has a lifetime warranty. http://www.swift-sportoptics.com/pscopes_premier.html#6266
Looking forward to sighting it in.

Things don't much loosen up on a Dan by shooting them. Not actually loctite, more like a bit of gummy bear. The screws come with it on it. If it was liquid loctite you would not be able to unscrew it. That is a beautiful setup. Those are BSquare clamp on rings. They are going for 100 to 120 on eBay. You did good mounting it as far back as you could. Makes it easier to hold.

Tell that to my side plate screws that like to loosen up after every range visit. 😉 BSquare - I'll have to remember that name. Thank you.

I wasn't liking the idea of keeping the set screw in the shroud, so I pulled it out. It was held in there with red Loctite.
I doubt it would have been a problem, but if you feel better taking it out, makes sense.
I have a fairly early production DW 1911, PM 1-S that is factory original with the DW interchangeable front sight. I like that I can easily change the front sight, but due to the mechanics of the slide motion/slam/lockup of a 1911, the setscrew can work loose and change POI/POA, and the sight dropping off the slide. Locktite solved that for me, should be much less of a problem on a revolver.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I finally had some time yesterday to get to the range with this scoped barrel/shroud. I set up the target at 15 metres and shot off-hand as always. I once again lost elevation to lower the scope for this close, the scope seems slightly tilted when I hold as opposed to level in the gun vise, and I find the scope heavy - but that was expected.
Here are the first shots sighting it in
After that, I tried a new target and got yet another squib with my .38 SPL loads using Titegroup on a Lee Auto Disk set-up. I've since stopped loading light loads with the Auto Disk and only shoot .357 cases with medium to hot loads. Grouping is acceptable, but after the squib I swapped out to the 4.2" barrel. Seeing as how I cannot hunt with a hand gun in Canada, I will just be using this for some fun every now and then but will probably stick to my open sights.
