May not look it at first glance with those frilly grips, but this is will be my IHMSA gun for 2024. The grips are not for show, but actually improve the hold better than finger groove grips IMHO. The sights are new old stock DW silhouette sights, which were installed with only minor gunsmithing. Yes, that is an early 15-2 barrel installed on a 15-1 frame via the EWK adapter. I’ve only been shooting the sport since 2017, and have experienced many ups and downs, but I’m optimistic that this new setup will enable me to improve my scores a little as long I can see the sights with my tired old eyes.

I have to admit that I bought them for the looks, but they actually feel great in the hand. The irregular pattern allows for the skin on your palm and fingers to gently lock onto the surface eliminating any slippery feel, yet without the sticky texture of a rubber grip.
I am near sighted and far sighted now. The bifocals I had were not working. The front sight was too close for the distance lens and too close for the reading lens. I got trifocals. The middle lens is for computer distance. I just lift my head a little and I can see the front sight clearly. Those tired old eyes will be rejuvenated.

I have the original 15-1 shroud, but I finally had to give up on getting the front sight pin out. It would take an arbor press, and I don’t have access to one. The pin came out fairly easily on this shroud, and since I already had the adapter I went ahead and used it. Actually, it ended up looking pretty cool, and works like a champ. All I need now is some good range time!!
