While browsing GB yesterday looking for a nice DW 15-2 frame I ran across a 15-2 w/ VH8" with a high bid of $405 with 8 hours left to bid. A couple FFLs ran the price up to $605 probably to flip it. I dozed off and woke up with two minutes left & bid $610 which was as high as I'd go on this one and won. Figured the barrel was worth nearly $400 so I got my frame rather cheaply. Seller was an FFL but wasn't very familiar with DWs apparently since it was listed as a Model 715. Seller said the action was locked up when he took it in and the trigger doesn't always reset. Cosmetically looks good from not so good dark/few photos. Figure the trigger over travel set screw needs adjustment and maybe the B/C gap is non existent and making contact like my first 15-2 or carbon build up. I've gotten very familiar with taking the DWs apart now thanks to "Average Joe" so I think I can fix what ailes it. I guess I'll find out when it gets here. Here's my other two.

3 15-2s is a nice start. That is, 3 a month and you will get there fast. I have bought several guns at discount that have simple problems. Dan Wesson is the "Thinking Man's Revolver". Most folks can't figure them out.
Very true. I'm hoping this one will be simple to diagnose too. Trigger return issue is probably just the trigger return set screw not adjusted and the frozen up action it had when he took it in may be as simple as the barrel dragging on cylinder. Or grip screw. Seller's a FFL but doesn't seem to know anything about DW revolvers. He had it advertised as Model 715. Asked for more pictures which I didn't get and he's not a good communicater. Now he tells me he's tied up with full ATF audit since last Friday and no time for GB issues. Hope he's got his ducks in a row & doesn't cash the MO before he gets cleared by ATF.

I picked up the gun today & am very pleased. Cosmetically better than expected and arrived with the trigger return issue the dealer had been honest about. I adjusted the overtravel set screw a little at a time until it reset consistently. When I tried single action the gun locked up and hammer wouldn't drop. I realized my overtravel adjustment wasn't allowing the trigger to move far enough to release the hammer. Put a spare trigger I had in and all is perfect now. Thanks to what I've learned on this site she's fixed. Thanks!!

Put on a 4VH today and headed to the range. Adjusted the sights and shot 125 of my 158gr Xtreme RNFP over 4.3 grains of HP-38. Seventy five rounds were primed with Winn SPP and all fired with deep indentations. Shot 50 with Servicios & Aventuras (Argentina) SPP and had two FTF which also happened with another 15-2 of mine previously
so not concerned about it. Stuck them in my Model 65 and both went bang.1 Guest(s)
