Yes, it is darker than the bright yellows, but its still just velvet. I was not aware it was any less common. I figured they just changed colors over the years, as this is a 1986 pack.

Got it on friday,, shot it on saturday morn. Mostly I was working with my wife on getting her comfortable with the gun and all. But at the very end of the entire shoot, ( 2hours and well over 150 rounds) I pulled out three .357 store bought and tried the fancy barrel nut.
First you have to understand that this was in an inside range. Although the lighting is adequate, it certainly isn't "bright". So when the flames and report from the .357 light up the room my wife let out an audible gasp. It's a pretty thing, very well made (to the eye) so I do indeed like it. As far as function, mostly it just tends to show off the flame in relation to the nuts porous background where-as with out it he flash is hard to identify as big or little.
