I bought this last week at a buy now price of $1400 The pics were bad so I was taking a chance but you all know how rare 22 magnums are. It turned out to be much better than I thought! Very happy to check another one off my list and bring my First Issue count up to seven! Scout728 I have to give credit to he sent me a text message about 12pm I did not get home until 9pm it was still there! Could not believe it sat there for 9 hours!

Just curious: Why is this a first edition??? The laser engraved logo and such, for me in my ignorance, suggests a much newer production than the originals. I have a 722M with 4 VH barrels I got back in 1997 that don't have any laser engravings.
Don't want to throw shade on your purchase but frankly, I did not realize the 22M's where that rare... just upped the value of mine... lol.
If you have a little more history on the 22Ms, I'd be interested.

I just know 22 magnums very few were produced. Maybe there was nobody buying them I'm not sure but guns that were not popular and were not produced in high numbers now become rare and wanted. First Issues were produced when Bob Serva took over the company in 1996. He bought it from Dan Wesson grandsons who bought the company back from bankruptcy owners in 1991 and moved it to Palmer. So 1991 to 1996 are known as the Palmer years. The grandsons made a go of it but a downturn in revolver sales and less people shooting IHMSA events they also were in trouble. Bob Serva a big Dan Wesson fan bought the company in 1996 and moved it to Norwich NY. He bought all new CNC machines and produced some of the best Dan Wesson guns made using new laser machines. He made the First Issues and only 1000 of each caliber were produced. They have become some of the most sought after Dan Wessons and highly collectible. He also started making the 1911's. He sold the company in 2006 to CZ-USA and they got out of the revolver game though they did produce a really nice 715 357 Magnum from 2014 to 2019 but low sales they ended. So I hope that answers your questions. somewhere here on the forum is a complete history of Dan Wesson. Your gun not sure when it was made if it says Palmer on the side it was made between 1991 7 1996 if it says Monson then it was produced between 1990 and 1983 I think I don't know the exact year that Monson started making the 22 LR & 22 Magnum.

Not that i'm aware of. Most of these were sold as one gun. If there were extra barrels it would have been sold as a pac. One problem with First Issues is the barrel is also stamped with the serial number so yes you can find and buy another stainless barrel but it will not match. I highly doubt there were extra barrels ordered at the time gun was purchased they would still be together though I guess you never know. The First Issues are rare enough a First Issue pac are even more rare. There are reports of only 25 of the 357 First Issue pacs made others say under 50. I also have a 45 Colt first Issue pac It may be the only one though I can't prove it. Someone would have had to order it that way back in early 2000. I would be very happy if some First Issue barrels #27 showed up for sale! Here are pics of my 357 magnum Pistol pac ll First Issue in the original blue case and my 45 Colt Pistol pac First Issue!
