Howdy all - same pics from another post, just thought I'd add them here.  This will be my ranch gun for packing around the hills (when I'm not carrying my Bond Arms snake slayer). coolS/N 121xx

Any chance the "small frame" revolver title can be changed to the more appropriate "medium frame" (at least for model 15's)?  I've already made one holster mistake.madModel-15-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Actually, DW made revolvers in 4 frame sizes.

  1. The smallest which is for the "Lil Dan only.
  2. The small frame for the .22/22mag's, the .32's and the 357's.
  3. The large frame for the .41's, .44's and '45's (oh, and the 360's).
  4. The SuperMag frames which are extended large frame guns for the SuperMag cartridges.

So, you see, in DW vernacular, your .357 is a small frame.  Yes, I know it's larger than some other brand's small frames, but that's part of what makes it a Dan and contributes to it's durability as well.  Just remember you've got a Dan.  It's both better and bigger than the others.

Just enjoy the fact that you have the largest small frame revolver made.

True Mike, the best ever made.  Seems I recall roughly equal to the K and L maybe, frames.

As it was the 2nd generation Dan I am sure the Lil Dan wasn't even a dream at this point! Yip the biggest (best) small frame around!

K and L frames are not small, they're medium frames, been called that for long time.  J frames as such are small frames.  Yeah, this might be a small frame for a DW, but it's a medium frame by what else is out there in the industry.  Just helps with things like holsters (which now costs me another $8 to return the too-small holster for small-frame revolvers LOL).

And I have and will enjoy this small-frame medium-in-size DW!

All true, and there in lies the crux.  If Dan Wesson had not been a man of the people, we'd all be shooting smitty's and not the engineering feat that is Dan Wesson Revolver....

Just one of the many reasons the DWF was formed.
