Hey all,
So I'm having a bit of a problem getting a new shroud on my 8-1. If I tighten the external barrel nut hand tight, I can't swing out the cylinder/rotate the action, because the ejection rod is stuck in the shroud. Has anyone else had this happen? I feel like there's something simple I'm missing. Is the external nut supposed to be a little loose/give the shroud a little play? It just looks/feels wrong if I can wiggle the shroud.
Thanks for your time,

I discovered this some time ago. However, the issue was between DW and HS . I was using a DW pork chop shroud on a HS.
As I recall there are variances in the end of the ejection rod as well. By this I do not mean just between the DW and HS but within the DW family itself. Some have a round shaped end and some are more conical shaped.
I added a few threads to the ejection rod and it had enough clearance to thread in enough to give the required space needed on the shroud end.
Seems as though I used a lathe to round off the end as well but it was not necessary to get the clearance. I guess at the time I just preferred the round shape over the conical shape that was original to the particular ejection rod I was working with.
Is the revolver all original? Is it possible the revolver has had some mix and match in regards to parts in the past?

Drummer: As far as I can tell, everything is original, although maybe someone switched something. I have the conical shape, so that might be it as well. Time to look for another ejection rod, and here's hoping it'll be just 'replace and good to go'
Easy approach would be to add a couple of threads to the ejection rod. It does not take much and there was enough clearance on the threaded end so that shortening the rod was not required.
Sorry, I cannot remember the thread count/pitch. I am away from home for another month or so and do not have the revolver available.
I am sure any reputable machine shop could spec it out and run a die for a couple of additional threads. Information is probably searchable as well.
Good luck.
