Dan#1 is still at "Mr. Marks Beauty Emporium". So here is Dan#2 in the making. (if I can get this picture thing down) Am also showing the medallions I'm wanting to refurbish.
All I can see is very large pics that nobody could make out. Not sure if I took 41s advice and may have used the wrong size pics. (Duuh, ya think?) Well, just took a look at them and considering I'm no Allen Funt, not too bad. For a first timer anyway. I deleted a couple of pics, now I've got a huge blank area. What'd I do wrong? Well anyway, you can start expecting a lot more as my Dan's get their makeovers.
FINALLY

Looking good, Jim. Thanks.
Believe me, they're going to get better. Much better!
I deleted a couple of pics after i seen them, how come the big gap showed up? Can this be circumvented?
Still open for suggestions on refurbishing the medallions. Charger Fan has what sounds like it just may be the answer. But I'm still entertaining all ideas. I want them to look as good as they can possibly be. We'll be seeing before and after pics so anyone wanting to redo their medallions will know what to do also. Seeing as how I may be using more than one method. I've got three sets to get it right. Then, I'll probably have some for sale, who knows?

Your post prompted me to try refurbishing a set of medallions. I did a quickie and they turned out pretty good. They actually look better in real life than on the photo. You will just have to trust me that the photo shows imperfections that can't be seen with the eye. All I did was give them a bath in solvent ( denatured alcohol because that was what I had at hand) then several coats of gloss black spray paint. Once dry I rubbed them on some 600 grit wet or dry paper and there you go.
I am confident with a little attention to detail a set could be made to look factory new.
Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

LB, I did same thing and they turned out fine, but I had a pair that where really bad so I used spary paint remover they brushed with brass cleaning brush then did the same painting as you did then installed them on LB set of grips
Waltfraz,I used charger's method of boiling in distilled vinegar and salt and I couldn't believe how clean the brass got. I used alcohol swabs because I had no Eletro-sol. It seemed to work great so I used a flat black enamal to keep the original look and I figured it would endure. After drying 2hrs. I applied another coat (lightly) and after 24 hrs. I used the 600 sand paper to bring out the raised areas (DWA, oval and circumference ring). Will add the pics to this topic after I get some sleep.
LB, yours turned out great. I hope mine look that good.
Poor Dan#2 is still a paraplegic. (hint, hint Eric and Lawrence) just kiddin'
