Hi, fellows
Today I picked up my (1996 old) new DW Palmer model 15 from the arms control police (IA, Guardia Civil, is called).
Here is my boy:
Serial number and markings:
Certainly it's not in so bad condition as it's price can suggest. There are some wearing zones but, in general terms, it is in quite good shape.
After an external review, I could find some issues to be fixed.
First of all, the rear sight is misaligned as you can see:
Also there ar some dents in the left side of the hammer, here:
And, finally, the mechanisms box cover is also not quite well aligned (hope you can see it):
So, to me, this machine falled to the floor once at least.
The rear sight can be aligned quite easilly, I think (I hope).
The dents don't bother me at all, so I won't do anything about.
And, finally, I'll do an uncover and review the trigger and hammer system to be sure that there is not another issue inside.
Also, as you can see in the serial number photo, there are some rare scratches above the trigger. May be from the gunsmith repair.
And, finally, I've noticed some wobble in the cilinder, the same if I try to move the cylinder retainer, so the wobble of the cylinder comes from the unadjusted retainer. I can't tell if it is "normal" but I've noticed it, so I will be aware about the right cylinder position before I shoot.
In target shooting all the shots are in single action so, I'll check the cylinder before any shoot, at least the firsts competitions until I'm confident.
And , finally, the target grip is quite big for my hand. The previous owner had more large hands than me.
This grip were hand made so it's not adjustable. I'll try to shape it closer to my needs but more sooner than later I will make my own, mainly because the grip angle and position are not the best to balance the gun with a single hand.
The gravity center has to be more up front, the width more thinner, the palm has to be closer to the frame and the grip angle has to be more open.
The rest, so far, so good.
Hope to fire it next week end.
I'll post my first impressions.

Welcome back with the photos of your "new" model 15. After reading your post and looking at pictures, I'd suggest giving the gun a very close examination before firing. I'm guessing the "mechanism box cover" is the side plate from your photo. If it's not fitting flush and is "proud" /sticking out, you need to find out why. The hammer making those dents may be caused by the ill fitting side plate not keeping the hammer aligned. The dents may be an indication of a problem. I'm not sure what you mean by the cylinder retainer, maybe cylinder release or U clip? Do a complete revolver inspection. If you don't know how ask and the folks here will be sure to help. Replacement grips are easy to find here in the states. These DWs are very simple inside and easy to work on. Anything wrong can be corrected. I'm new to the DWs myself but there are very helpful and knowledgeable people here glad to help you. Good luck and welcome to the club.

That is a sweet looking 6" Heavy Fixed Barrel you have there. Unless you are a very good woods craftsman, I wouldn't bother with trying to save that handmade monstrosity, as there are so many different factory and aftermarket grips available. Just use the Hogue Monogrips until you find the right wooden one.

Thats a nice DW. Those grips are very creative. They look like a custom target grip style. They have a beautiful wood grain. I made a pair of grips for my Ruger .357. for target shooting. A dremel tool is really helpful in reshaping those grips to fit your hand. Here are a couple of pics of mine.
