Just snagged a grip that I think is very close to what this Model 15-1 might have had from the factory. It is definitely 'powerwood' which from what I understand was short lived and roughly co-insides with the timeline of the 14-1, 15-1 era.
It took some time to get this grip on the gun however. A previous owner had apparently attempted to accommodate using a shorter mounting screw by drilling the hole in the grip deeper leaving little more than an eighth inch of material. I ended up making a bushing from an 8-32 nut by drilling out the threads and then meticulously rounding off the nut to fit snugly in the opening. Fortunately, the hole has some taper to it, and as I drove it down with a large punch it got nice and tight well away from the fragile piece left in the bottom. I then shortened a 1 1/2 inch 8-32 screw just a little to have the correct amount of thread engagement.
Perhaps not the most attractive grip, but it fits the hand very nicely!
