I sold one of my 738's to forum member Torch51 and he just called me to tell me he got the gun but can't get the cylinder open. It was working fine when it left my FFL, as he opened the cylinder to verify it was unloaded. The action will cycle in bot single and double action but the cylinder will not open. The cylinder gap was set to .006". Torch says the cylinder latch doesn't seem to want to move down much. Could there be carbon fouling or unburned powder residue preventing the latch form moving down? If the latch spring failed, would it jam the latch in the closed position? If you remove the tiny allen screw from in front of the cylinder latch, would that help get it open?
I'm stumped, I've never had one I couldn't open. I've had a broken spring but that prevented the crane from latching. Any help would be much appreciated. I want to help Torch get this thing working.

Verify he's pulling down. A friend once tried to check my Dan when I handed it to him on a range. He was pushing up.. I guess because of the contour??? IDK. They're pretty failsafe. Someone on the forum had a problem for a while too. Maybe send him a video if he won't be offended...

Problem resolved! He called and said the tiny setscrew on the latch had backed out a bit and was allowing the latch to tilt in the slot just enough to bind. He tightened it up and everything is fine. The weird thing is I had no difficulties just prior to shipping it. Anyway, its good to go now.

Sorry I cried wolf. We pulled the little set screw out, took the lever & spring out & cleaned it a little, lubed it, put it back together & it work great. This is my fouth Dan but first Lil Dan. I'm pretty sure I know which way to push the lever.
Great transcation with Scorpio, I would highly recommend him as a seller. I only wish I had the resorces to buy the fixed barrel 15-2 he had on Gunbroker.
Thanks Torch51
