Hi I am new to the forums. I have been looking for a edc smallish revolver in the 38/357 range. Today at my local gun shop I saw a model 15 with the 2.5” pork chop barrel. The gun look spotless. It has been taken really good care of. They are asking $495. It doesn’t include any accessories, barrels or tools. It is a little bigger than I wanted for iwb carry, but not too bad. I really like the idea of being able to swap the barrel. It does look like the pork chop barrels are harder to find. I did see an adapter that lets you put the newer style barrel on instead of the pork chop style. They also have a 14 that shows a lot of wear in the finish, but no play and it locks up tight. It has the newer non pork chop style barrel. It is also $100 less. It has the larger 4” barrel. It is larger than I was looking for, but I could put that extra $100 to either a airweight 38 special, or another barrel for this. I know these guns are considered to be a high quality fire arm. Does this seem like a good price on them though? Is there any recommendation for one over the other? I will go back tomorrow and take some pictures if that helps. Thanks

For IWB EDC I'd look at something like a S&W J-Frame such as the model 642 for $469 and use .38+P's.
That 15 is sweet. It as a 15-1 (unofficially) with the large rear sight. That makes it a little bulkier. BTW, the barrel is 21/4". 495 is a little steep but you get to look at it and check it out in person. You will need a tool. Those are 'Powerwood' plastic grips. Not one of Dan Wessons better ideas. Look on eBay for better grips. Maybe use that as a negotiating point. 450 would make you feel better.

I am looking for other barrels. It looks like the pork chop style are harder to find. I can buy an adapter to change to the newer style barrel, but I head there is something else needed do to a length difference. Also what tool do I need for this one? I know there are a few different versions. I am also looking for some black rubber style grips. Something shorter and smaller so it will be easier to carry. Any good iwb holsters? Thanks again!

You need one of Eric's barrel wrenches from EWK, the best Dan Wesson tool available;
