Alright guys, I lost my camera on a trip with my lady to Chicago, took a while to buy a new one.
Here's my 15-2 I purchased from Gunbroker earlier this year. I got fed up with Ebay's prices and bought a 2.5 from CZ. Fits great. I also got a "Custom Diy kydex holster" from Evilbay. I used a toaster oven, power drill and a makeshift foam press. The Dan shoots great, a bit heavy for conceal carry but I'm a bigger guy and after an hour it gets pretty comfortable. Only gun I have so there's that too...Hope you guys enjoy!

Thanks guys, at first the holster was really tight, but it broke in pretty well. I was worried about the retention getting too loose over time so I drilled one extra hole an inch under the muzzle - If I needed to tighten it, another chicago screw can be added. The tandy leather screws really are something! I'm still very new to the holster game. I am planning on making a full kydex hip holster when Eric gets more EH shrouds in stock. I also have a misguided kydex hybrid shoulder holster idea in my mind...
Photohause - It has gotten very comfortable lately, just needed a slight step up in the pants size, everything fell into place. As comfy as it can get for a full size frame.

Welcome to Kydex holster making. It is good to see other members in the forum using Kydex as a medium for holster making. Nice definition on the hybrid holster you have pictured. Attached is a picture of my 15-2 2.5 HV pancake style OWB holster and since you mentioned a shoulder holster, a picture of the one I have been working on.

Nice work, both of you guys are talented! I wish I had the attire for a shoulder rig, but I rarely wear a coat or jacket so I'm stuck with IWB. You two could open up a cottage industry making those for us DW fans.

Thanks, I have made a few holsters for DWF members. I forgot to mention that the 15-2 4"HV in the shoulder holster is equipped with a custom LB grip and EWK barrel and shroud. The shoulder holster works nice under a winter coat and the OWB works well under a sweat shirt or coat.

Hey Etrier, actually seeing your posts on the DWF a year or two ago inspired me to give kydex a try! Your work is amazing, that shoulder holster looks a lot better than what I had in mind. Will need to adjust my sketches (If I can find them) I have a galco rig and managed to score a Galco speed-loader pouch, it's bulky but under my winter coat it's not a problem (I hate how the tie downs are a separate purchase). I am waiting foe EWK barrels before I make any more holsters though and with my limited time I doubt I'll be able to make anyone a holster, it's simple enough though - plenty of youtube videos. Easy to screw up too Whoops! Cut too much kydex, better order more!

Cipher, all of the leather parts shown for the shoulder holster are Galco parts. I have strip loaders rather than speed loaders for extra rounds but I am not a fan of the Galco design with the fold over leather and snaps. The hardest part of the shoulder holster was finding the parts that would connect the Kydex holster to the leather loops of the Galco shoulder rig. Look for a PM with my info if you need help finding parts or assistance with any of your projects.

Guys ...nice job on the holsters. I recently started dabbling with some kydex for my DW 357. My question is... since kydex is so tough...how much abrasion will there be on the blueing on the gun from drawing and holstering where it contacts the kydex? Any thought would be appreciated.

Given that any holstered firearm will show wear from contact with the holster my experience has been that my leather holster showed more finish wear faster on my original DW than the DW with the 2.5" EWK barrel shown in my previous post that I acquired during the summer of 2014. The interior surface of a Kydex holster is smooth and is less likely to keep dust and dirt inside the holster which will act as an abrasive if they are left in the holster. An open muzzle allows you to simply wash out the holster if it gets dirty. Since my holster uses the trigger guard as the point of retention it is the place where I expect to see wear first. The way I look at it, is that the Kydex is a soft plastic material compared to steel of the revolver. The plastic material should be damaged the most by the steel of the firearm. The attached photo's show my DW as it is today having been holstered since the summer of 2014. I wear it during colder months and at all of the gun shows that I attend while showing holsters to customers, it has seen a decent amount of cycles of in and out of the holster with less wear than what I would have expected from my leather holsters. If you have a safe queen and you are concerned with damage or wear to the finish, I would not recommend that you holster it and try to carry it around.
