Hello all!
I'm new to the Dan Wesson gang, having picked up my first at a gun show recently. I've always wanted one, and this model I haven't seen before.
I need some help identifying it, and you are all the experts.
It is probably a model 15, has a solid rib, heavy shroud, adjustable rear sights (15-2?), pinned into the rib black serrated front sight, is a .357 mag 6-shot, 6 inch interchangeable barrel. Grips appear to be wood (faux?) with a small off-white medallion with "w" on it and about 50 percent faded metallic finish. Overall finish is deep blued, mirror finish. Pics are attached. It was made in Monson, Mass, with a serial number 57xxx. From what I can find so far, I think it was made '75-'76.
Its in good shape overall; haven't fired it yet but everything checks out (timing, lockup, cylinder gap, etc).
I'm sorry for photobucket; this forum's uploader crashed (I believe the files were too large, they have since been resized).
So what do I have in my possession?
Thanks!

You're right on the year made. The 5-digit s/n, grip style & pinned front sight are all correct for an early 15-2 model. The grips are plastic, the style was called "powerwood" & were only available for a short while.
Congrats on your excellent find, it looks great!

I put a Hogue Monogrip on it (that took some modification for sure!) and took my new toy to the range.
What a dream to shoot. .357 magnum never felt so good!
I don't think I will own any other brand of revolver.
Thank you for helping me identify it.
I do have one more question:
What is a good holster out there that would fit?

That is a really nice early model 15-2 that you picked up.
If you are interested in a nice leather holster, check out Simply Rugged. You can email them about holsters that would be a fit for your gun and barrel length http://www.simplyrugged.com/. Make sure you tell them you have the heavy underlug barrel.
