Hello all,
I stumbled upon what I believe to be a Model 15 (no dash) "pork chop" today, and promptly scooped it up. It's in reasonable shape (90+%) and came complete with the 2.5", 4", and 6" barrels/shrouds. Add to that the period barrel disassembly tool and feeler gauge. Not sure what the vintage is, but it's a Monson gun with s/n 34902. The best part of the deal was I got it for $335.00 OTD.
This is the second DW I've gotten in a weeks time. The other being a later 15-2 6V. I've been into guns since 1963, but have recently become interested in Dan Wessons. Guess I'm not done buying guns afterall!

Wow, that's an excellent find for the money! There sure are a lot of Porkchops surfacing around here lately, I love it.
Your Model 15 variation has been dubbed a 15-1 sometime before I came on board. Although I haven't yet seen any official DW reference to the fact, I think the "dash one" idea fits & have continued to run with it. Your gun is basically the final evolutionary step before becoming a full-fledged 15-2…the action, cylinder release, ejector rod & flush barrel nut were all carried over into the 15-2 guns. I would estimate it's vintage to be somewhere in 1974…but I'm still learning more almost daily, so I'm always open to rebuttal.
From your pic, I see that the grip has been borrowed from an 80's-to-current 15-2, judging from the medallion style. The colored front sights are also 15-2 pieces that have been drilled, the solid sight in the snubby shroud should be original to the gun. I wouldn't say those items would detract from the gun's value & definitely think you got a good deal.
aboard & thanks for showing it off.
BTW, here's a pic thread showing some of the other Porkchop variations…

Thanks for the nice welcome guys, and for the "411" on my latest acquisition. Yesterday's find came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I'd assumed it was going to be just another 15-2 like the one I already had. BTW, when I got it the 6" barrel was in place, but I decided to put the shorty on just to see how it would look. I kind of like it, especially with those funky grips.
Of course now, I've got to have the M22 to round things out, so unless you experts can tell me why I shouldn't do that it'll probably be next on my list. I've got a nice S&W M63 that I could sell off and more than pay for it.
Thanks again for the help guys!

Although in thinking about it, it does make for a rather "large" package for a mere .22.
Thats the best part. Having a 22 that matches your 357, makes for inexpensive pratice as well as like we need an excuse to pick up another gun.
