Hello all, I am new to the forum so sorry if a thread like this is inappropriate. I recently picked up a Dan Wesson 14 from a local used gun shop after reading the sentiments online here and other places (and think I got a good price for it).
The gun is in really good shape, only showing slight holster wear around the muzzle and the bluing is in good shape.
I am interested in seeing if there is anything about what you can tell me about the manufacture date or things to look for on the gun.
It is a Monson serial in the 349xxx range, and judging by the gun serial log on this site, it appears to be a late 70's or early 80's, but on that list I only see 14-2's with that kind of serial number.
Any info you can provide would be helpful!
Thanks,
Jason
Also as a side note, I see EWK arms has accessories (barrels, parts) for a reasonable price, but didn't nee any info on them. What is the general consensus on these third party parts?

and thanks for the . Nice gun.
I'm not knowledgeable on the 14's so I can't help you there. Parts from EWK are great! Eric is easy to work with. You do have to be a little careful if you change the front sight. It is a different height from the sights on the adjustable rear site Model 15's.

Jason, Welcome you have a 14-2 it is the modern Dan Wesson. The pic below is the front of the 14 (early Model) or pork chop barrel.
EWK has great stuff and the EH combos will fit the 14-2, you would need to order the front sight to let you get correct poa. I see by the pic you have 2.5" shroud, did it come with barrel? the BA (barrel and shroud asembly). If EWK had them you could get the right barrel for it, which you will need one of wrenches too (better than the orginals). If you order anyting form EWK just let him know you have.
Hope this helps and look around alot of great info on here!

Thank you both for the info.
Yes it came with the full barrel assembly for the 4 and 2 inch barrels, a barrel wrench and the two grips with a case (for $230 otd). The dealer only had it marked as a model 14 so I wasn't sure so thank you.
Good to hear about EWK, I was looking into getting a longer 8" barrel for hunting at some point.

Jason, Another great seller on here is LB see side bar for some sweet grips like none other! He is home grown and the hand made grips have a WOW factor built in! See thread on calendar! The EWK EH 8" is a monster though for hunting would be dead on! Some new slotted heavies maybe coming soon!
Oh btw Great buy on the 14-2
ps. keep hold of those Grippers the ones that arent on the Dan . They are fairly hard to find!

14-2 is one of my favorite DW's--it is also the one shown in my sig pic.
Yep, not only once, but thrice!
I agree with LB, your purchase price is a bonafide and you must congratulate yourself to your buying prowess on landing that one... ...or that could also be taken as; you recognize a smokin' deal when you see it.
From your s/n, I would say it's an early 80's manufacture...'82~'83.
