Above is a picture of Lt. David Abney, Muscogee Co. S.O., with the "Overall Winner" trophy and his Dan Wesson Model 11. The monthly service pistol match was held recently at the PD Range and the LT's, very accurate shooting, Model 11, shot a score high enough (463) to place tops. The elderly LT. was shooting against the PD's S&W M&P .45 Pistol and our Sheriff's Office Glock 21 Pistol. Albeit, I didn't fall in with my Dan Wesson M-11 until 1997,I have 'never' shot a more accurate 4-inch fixed, sight revolver than the Model 11. That short hammer drop, once I got use to it, has been used by me, time and again, to shoot high scores using the old .38 Police Load, the 158-gr. LRN in standard factory loading! I can get pretty good scores with my 'beloved' Colt Official Police.38 and my Ruger Police Service-Six but not like the scores I get with my Dan Wesson. I love the "Buck Rogers Ray Gun" look my Model 11 has been compared to! That protruding barrel nut doesn't bother me at all, especially when my Model 11 brings in the Overall Winner Trophy. I wish that I held a good command of the 'Kings English' to give my Model 11 a proper write-up. I hope my friends here enjoy the picture as it has been a long time coming. I got help from my beloved son, Colt, in posting this picture.

Thanks so much..........David

P.S. Those NYPD cops missed out in 1970, not getting the NYPD-approved .38 Dan Wesson Model 11, when they had the chance. I have 'never' shot a more accurate service revolver than the Model 11. I have shot most, if not all, and feel good in making this statement to people who know 'what' I am talking about. Thanks again!

Congrats on showing them brass flingers a thing or two and good write up.

Way Cool! Congratulations. Were they all properly humbled?

Just a thought, but a close up of that venerable Model 11 with the winning trophy would make a really nice calendar shot....
