I would like you all to evaluate my Dan Wesson group.
I have one 22 Monson frame serial # 16,9xx and one 15-2 Monson frame serial # 63,9xx. Both are in excellent condition showing only a few handling marks and not much shooting use. Blue is still excellent, lock up terrific on both.
I have two shared shrouds, one 6" and one 2" full lug, vented. Plus I have two 8" and two 4". One four inch has rust pitting on one side only, caused by aggressive sheepskin dye.
I have barrels for each length in both .357 and .22. Three .357 barrels are stainless, 6", 4" and 2".
There are three grips, a rubber combat, a CC in wood, and a combat in wood.
All the tools are there, plus an extra front sight insert and two extra 22 main springs.
Some of these, in fact most of these barrel combos have never been shot and none very much at all. The guns are tight and lock up is perfect.
What do you say about the value of this set?

First let me you to the and thank you for the
I would say you have some nice guns there with some nice accessories. Looks like one of my 44 cases. Filled up with stuff. Very nice indeed. Do you shoot them much, or is this a new gun set to you?

Bought the 22 new in late 1970's and traded my wife's 380 semi-auto because she could never tell what state it was in for the 15-2 about 1993. The barrels I picked up from the factory over time. Have shot both a few times, but not many. Love the short action on these.
Looking for a $$ number to put on them as a package.

Welcome to the forum.
I'm not sure what they would go for as a "set". I would not think they have any "extra" value as set, instead its just a pair of very nice Dan Wessons. In fact you might do better breaking them up, becasue as a set your forcing a buying to buy two guns where he might only really want the one. Your best range of values would be to follow gunbroker for a while and see how things do on there over time. Having said that, you will find that prices on GB run hot and cold, making any difinitive pricing difficult.
DW Monson 22 w/ 3 BA's and tools ...........$650 to $850
DW 15-2 Monson w/ 3BA's and tools ..........$550 to $750
DW case ............. $75 to $125
Now that shuold total to a low of $1275 or a high of $1725. I do not think you will get $1725 .. I do not think you would get $1500... In fact you might not even get $1275.
Premiums are paid for factory "pistol packs", some get lucky by creating a semblence of such a pack. A collector is going to tell these are not packs, and thus will price them accordingly. If the guns are as nice as you say, they should still fetch a good price, but they will do so on thier own merits and not due to being part of a "set". I hope this is helpful.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.
4 Monson Model 15's
1 Palmer FB 15
1 Rossi 357 Model 92 (lever)

Yes, thank you for your honest opinion. I can't really sell them as total separate units because of the shared shrouds on 6" and 2". I would probably do better if I did wish to sell them by selling each separate with appropriate barrels and shrouds, say 2", 4" and 8" inch for the 15-2 and 4", 6"and 8" for the 22. Then sell the spare barrels separately. Might keep them awhile longer though.

I agree with Pinetor's estimates, other than the case. That's not a DW case, but a briefcase with foam inside, so the value for that will be fairly low. Parting the pair should gain a higher overall sale price on these guns, the only drawback is that it's a bit more hassle to do it that way.
If you decide to hang onto them a while longer, I couldn't blame you. I know that I would have a rough time parting with any of my DW's.

I know it's a briefcase with foam inside. Never made claims it was anything at all. It's just a good way to carry a few guns to the range. I have no doubt about the quality of the pieces themselves, most are unused and I've had them since new. I like the guns well enough to own them for more than 30 years in the case of the 22 and sought out the 15-2 intentionally 17 years ago. Bought all the barrels and shrouds new from DW. I keep them very clean and happy so it's not an issue about worth, only a question to others of like mind.
Thank you all.

Nice looking set looks as if these guys hit all the bases. Welcome and hope you stay around awhile!
What do you want to get out them?
I'm just getting a feel for worth more than ready to move them. I do believe I'd do better breaking them up to 22+3 and 15-2+3, then sell spare barrels without their own shrouds, as opposed to keeping it all intact. The price I see for barrels and shrouds...might even pay more by breaking them out further, say 22+2 and 15+2, selling the rest of my barrels and shrouds alone. Seems a shame though, to break them up that much.
Unless I get someone to make an offer on it all, which I now doubt will happen, I'll hang on to it for awhile. But I do love to trade for old Colt's and Smith & Wesson's too.
