Wish all guns were built like this. Picked up my first piece of bacon today; traded a Remington Viper rifle and a little boot, (~$225 total) to bring home this pound pig. Nearly 40 years old, showing honest holster wear (check out the difference in thicknesses of the shroud sides). Internals are gritty dirty but I was pleasantly surprised to see very little wear for the age. The extractor and hand are still sharp, trigger parts still mostly blue, and all other friction points are still pretty nice, all things considered. This will get a good cleaning and then I'll figure out how I want to do the re-finishing. Thinking about leaving it ugly because I know it'll shoot. Be fun to hit the range with a beater and outshoot the kids with their poly pistols...

I'm leaning towards no refinishing; that's easiest and cheapest. I will need to keep my eye open for some better plastic grips, however... they're kinda chewed up- but again; character is fine.
I brought the pork into the house and noticed the barrel nut was only finger tight, so I loosened it to take the barrel and shroud off. Next thing I know, I grabbed the allen keys and viola; I think it was on the bench a total of 5 minutes before disassembly. The wife even said, "why don't you take your uniform off first, before you get grease on it?". Of course, I did the next best thing and just put my reloading/ casting apron on....

A lot of my guns looked pretty grubby inside when I first got them, and giving them their first good scrubbing is half the fun! Besides, it's a good excuse to check for potential problems.
Congrats on finding that one, that's your first Pork, right? Also, I'd say that price is just right.

Nice grab on that one Ron. You will enjoy smoking the Glock boys with that old porker. I love the astonished look on the faces of the guys at the range when my old HS MKIII shoots dead on.
