I thought I'd post a pic of a recent acquisition. I saw this one and thought it looked unique enough to add to the collection.  I didn't have a 714 and a 714 fixed barrel seemed like a good place to start.  I've never seen Zebra grips in this configuration before.  Anybody know the name of that style?  I like them, they fit nicely in the hand and would be great for ccw.  If the snow ever melts enough around here, I want to shoot this one soon.  It's in decent condition, needs a good cleaning a few minor handling marks taken off with a Scotchbrite pad but it will be a real beauty when all cleaned up.  I thought I'd post a pic or two of the 'as acquired' state.  Locks up nice and tight and has a very smooth trigger.

No box or other goodies but a nice little gun none the less.

That's a beauty. Nice catch. I've never seen one in the wild.

Nice pick up.  Hard to tell from the picture but those grips look like an in-between combat and target size...maybe someone's good DIY modification?

I believe that is referred to as a "service" grip. Don't see many in Zebra.  I could be mistaken though.

I think you are right LB, service grips do have the tapered top at the frame.  I've never seen one in nice Zebra before this.

Very cool, a 714 FB has to be one of the rarest combinations to find.

Was a nice day today and the public range was dug out enough to run a few rounds down range, even if some dolt had shot the 2x4 target support to swiss cheese.

Got to shoot the 714 FB, ran some hand loads just to try it out.  At 15 yards off hand it was pretty dang accurate.  Once I figured out that it shoots a bit higher than POA I was able to do pretty well.  Here is a quick pic of my targets.  I think I'll keep it! winkIMAG0503-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Nice new acquisition.

It's a zebra service grip, they don't show up very often.  I have only come across 1 on a new gun that I kept.

4 inch barrel, yes.  I thought it was a good find.  I don't see 714's often and never saw a FB and the grips are really nice.  It was a lucky find.

VERY nice. I saw that for sale and lusted for it. Yes, very rare zebra service grip. Now what it needs is one of my 9mm stainless cylinders.
