Both frames back from Norwich with a few repaired parts, a few chased threads, new springs, and a clean bill of health. The 6 and 12 shrouds were reblued there, as well, and OH MY GOD it's a perfect match, like black glass, and they cut me a new 12" barrel as the old one had split and replaced the nut. Funny-the new barrel crown looks a whole lot better than the originals on the 6 and 2.5! Here it all is next to the little 2.5 that stayed with me in the bag. I'm going to order a new barrel wrench from EWK tomorrow, find myself a set of feeler gauges, and hopefully make it to the range this weekend to do my barrel accuracy comparo. Hopefully.

is the flat crown better for some reason, or is it just more historically accurate?
I will try my hand at this one and someone will straighten me out eventually.
The early Dans all came with a flat crown because that was what Dan Wesson liked and believed to be the best way. At some point (not sure when) they began to use a more modern style crown. I personally can not say which is better.
So I guess at least the flat crown is historically accurate for a gun of earlier production. Maybe someone here will know about when they started crowning the barrels.
