A group of shooters from my club went to shoot sporting clays last Sunday hoping that the predicted rain would end early in the morning like the weatherman said it would.  We had a bite to eat in the clubhouse while we waited for the rain to stop.  It slowed and sort of stopped just as we were ready to shoot.  Great luck, right?  Nope.  Not 20 minutes after we began the circuit the rain came on harder that before.  We spent about 2 1/2 hours out in the rain getting soaked but having a great time anyway!  When we got to the last station we found this gun rack with a cute little umbrella.  At least the guns were dry for about 2 minutes. laugh

Well you just reinforced what I always say. A bad day in the field (weather wise this time) is better that a good day at work.   Sounds like fun.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

I'm right on board with you there.  It was actually only my second time shooting sporting clays, but I had so much fun after the first time (a month ago) that I got my wife to come along just to watch because I thought she'd enjoy the game.  I tried to get her to shoot but she didn't want to.  She is a shooter, but has never done this before, so she was a bit apprehensive.  After we were done, despite being very soaked by the rain, she told me she had a great time and that she wanted her own shotgun.  We found and purchased an older Rem 1100 20ga last night for her and we're going to put it through its paces on the skeet field Sunday.   Who woulda thought that dragging her in the pouring rain through the woods for a few hours on a Sunday morning would have lead to her requesting her own Remington?  Yea wifey!!!

That's awesome!  It's always better if you can share your sport with the wife.

You bet!  We did just that on Sunday and she's coming with me on Wednesday to try again.  This time we shoot under the lights.  We met up with another member of my club and his girlfriend over the weekend and she told my wife if she shoots Wednesday night that she would come also.  One thing leads to another.

Besides being a good sport to do together, the more interested my wife gets, the better chance I have of being able to buy new equipment or more ammo when I need to.laugh

Always an angle..  I love shooting under the lights.  I hope they use white target- much better than orange, at night.
