A .22 Short is one round I have never shot, I always imagined those as being the louder equivalent of a pump action BB rile. I think 20 rounds of that one would be my limit before begging for something more potent. Or am I wrong?

Since I haven’t shot one in so long I cannot remember, but once I shoot one again I’ll let you know. I’m hoping for something accurate to about 50 yards and quiet enough I don’t need hearing protection.

Yes- but that's right at the transition; a good place to be. In the summer it should be subsonic but, in the winter, you may be above. It all depends on the air conditions and the velocity of the actual projo when it leaves the barrel.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Fired off about 8 rounds today sans hearing protection. No loud crack, definitely what I was hoping for, no hearing protection required. Seems like I’m easily accurate to 50 yards too. Perfect.
Now just picture Bill Murray in Caddy Shack and you’ve got the image of me on my property after ground squirrels. LOL
