All, I just returned from a great turkey hunting trip on a friends farm in Illinois. I really like getting in the spring woods after a loong winter. It took a few days, but I got the big guy. His spurs were so long I could hang him from a branch with them...hence the trophy turkey term " Limbhanger".  I hunted with friend of 30 years, weather and fishing were  good also and the beer was cold....I am blessed.

Congratulations- nice Tom! By the way; what's wrong with People Eating Tasty Animals?

Hugelk, to explain the People Eating Tasty Animals: some years ago PETA wanted to name their web site peta.com. They found out that that title was taken. A gentleman had it for People Eating Tasty Animals and would not release it. It took PETA a while to get around the guy. Thus the remark about people eating etc.

Quick edit: I just entered peta.com and it goes to peta.org which is PETA's web site.

To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:

if you find one...what's your plan?

Next trip should be to Florida  for an Osceola  Turkey.  They are all over the place here. I saw a Tom displaying while driving on the interstate 3 days ago.

Turkeys1-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Wow, nice bird!  Sounds like a great time, hunting, friends, food, beverages...

Here's a picture of some turkeys that hang around my back yard.  I've been told they're not very smart birds, but these guys know just when the dogs are in the house.  Sorry for the poor quality, that's called having to zoom in on a cell phone camera.

Anyway, I usually host Thanksgiving dinner for my family, so guess where the turkey will be coming from?  lol

As for People eating tasty animals, where I'm from, you see that bumper sticker on a lot of trucks.  That one and "If it's brown it's down" and "If it flies it dies".

Hello,

That is very cool that you have turkeys in the yard sometimes. I bet the sunrise gobbling could be great.... or annoying depending on how much sleep you got ! Turkeys are not smart.......but tremendous survival skills. From the moment they hatch somebody is trying to eat them. MMMMMMM
