Dan Wesson guns are great but so is archery hunting.  This is the time of year that I live for.  Took a nice old doe on Tuesday and her back straps are in the freezer, one of her hind ends is in the smoker drying as jerky, the other will be ground into burger and her inner loins are in my belly.  What is better than the PA archery season?  Oh I know----Sunday HUnting.

I hear yeah! Congrats on your harvest!

Went out here in Oklahoma and saw a few doe, but nothing came close in to take a shot.  Next week is youth weekend here and I will be taking my 6 year old son out for his first time. He is so excited and I have to tell you I am as excited as I was my first time out there.

Last Wednesday was my daughter's 7th birthday and she asked me to take her hunting, so we went to a ground blind.  Didn't see any deer but she said it was really fun.  Hope she and my other daughter want to hunt with me the rest of my life.  At this point, I am just trying to make it fun, so we probably make way to much noise in the ground blind.  We wil see one some day.  Shoot straight!

Same here. I don't really expect to see much, but him being out there and showing an interest is all I care about. We'll be doing a ground blind too. I've set up in the back yard so he's used to it.

As long as they have fun that is all that matters. Good luck to you and your daughter next time you go out!

Last Thanksgiving when our son was home on leave, he spent several days trying to bag deer, with no success. He did, however, substantially thin out our backyard squirrel population cool

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Sounds like great fun guys. Wish I had time to exercise the old (and I mean old) Hoyt!

Between working all the time and a drawn out home improvement project, I just this weekend got out in the woods to scout and look for sign. But I will hit it hard later in the season, I have 2 weeks offlaugh in early November. Hope for a cold snap!

I never took my daughter out during archery season, but she rifle hunted several seasons and got 2 antlerless deer. Says she wants to try archery hunting but between college and working part time she really does not have time to spare for hunting for a year or two yet.

Fellow Hunters,

Im also looking forward to the beginning of November to spend some time in stand. The same farm I turkey hunt has pretty good deer. I was blessed with a great harvest last year, both bow and shotgun. But its not about antlers , its about connecting with nature, and friends and creator.

Excellent buck hugelk and yes connecting with nature, time alone on stand to contemplate the big questions as well as time with family and friends while hunting is what it is all about.  I have taken three doe so far this archery season.  All clean kills.  My family and I just feasted this evening on the interior loins of two nice PA doe.  Saturday evening will be my next hunt and the doe will get a pass for the final two weeks of the Archery season as I am now in Buck Hunter mode.

I am saving one last doe tag for the PA gun season and hope to use either my .357 Super Mag or .44 Mag both with 10" barrels to take my first whitetail with a hand gun.  I am feeling confident with both guns using open sites out to 50 yards.

I am planning on using a 180 Grain Hornady XTP in the .357 Super Mag and a 240 Grain Hornady XTP or a Sierra Sports Master in the .44 Mag.  Has any one on this site got some Dan Wesson hand gun Hunting stories to share?  Would enjoy some hand gun hunting advise.
