Hi everyone,
I know there are specific sites out there for shotgun and turkey shoot information. I have been looking at them a bit but thought that I'd ask for opinions wherever I could. My club is talking about organizing a turkey shoot event or even an ongoing schedule of shoots, however it has been a long time since anyone has had to do so and thus no one has specific information on how to get the job done. Since there are various forms of competition, targets, and scoring, I thought I'd ask opinions as to what people like or didn't like about shoots they've been to. If you've been involved in the organization or administration of a turkey shoot, I'd love to hear about what worked and what problems to avoid.
Anything you can add will be helpful.
As a side note for those in CT: We will be hosting a cowboy shoot league on Sat, Oct 12, 2013. We are welcoming spectators if anyone wants to watch. Located in Coventry, CT. Please get in touch with questions if interested.
Thanks.

I'd enjoy spectating at a "Cowboy Shoot " right in my backyard. My work schedule won't allow that unfortunately. I know that some group runs a Turkey Shoot in Portland every year, I'll see if I can find out more.
Are you a CCDL Member? I'm sure someone in CCDL would know about this.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks Steve. I am a CCDL member and that sounds like a good idea. I'll see how to approach them to ask as I can't be at the meeting next week. No worries on the cowboy shoot. It's a new venture for us and we will be hosting many more next year after the snow melts. We had one last weekend as a trial run and the 12th will be a full fledged one for "The Connecticut Bushwackers". That's the name of the league. They are trying to finish up their season before the bad weather. I'll try to remember to post info next year in case people want to watch.
