As several of you know my wife and I bought an Airstream a few years ago. We got to use it for two seasons at a nearby campground but when I littlest one came along brought it back home so it's been sitting in storage for two years!
We were able to take the Airstream out for a trip over the Labor Day weekend. We're hoping to get to make some regional trips next year so we recently joined the WBCCI which is the organization that puts on the Airstream caravans and rallies.
After spending a few nights in it over the Labor Day weekend it has reminded us of some upgrades that we would like to make. Here are a few:
- Replace the Quest pipe with Pex - We had a couple of leaks are we first purchased it and again on this past trip! I had quest in my first townhouse and had issues there as well. I believe there was a class action lawsuit against the company which is no longer in business needless to say.
- Add 2nd AC in Bedroom - She's 34' and it can get rather toasty if we're in a sunny spot so that second unit would be a welcome upgrade. I've found some how-to threads on the Airforums website so once I save up my pennies and have free time hopefully it will get done!
- Replace the original carpet with some type of low maintenance flooring.
Before leaving for the Labor Day trip we had to put 6 new tires on so that's one less thing to worry about! The last major thing would be to upgrade the tow vehicle. When we purchased the Airstream it was a package deal with a 1999 Ford F250 2WD Extended Cab with a 7.3 Power Stroke. I like the truck and engine but since we're now a family of 4 it would be nice to have an F250 with a crew cab.
Having little ones my time to shoot is limited and this will be something the entire family can do together...

I'd be scared sh#%less to pull something like this, but it looks like a lot of fun once you get it parked!
Our Uncle Elroy had one of those and he pulled it an equally huge International like this...... (our dad the GM engineer referred to it as as a an ugly bus made by a truck company!)
To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:
if you find one...what's your plan?

you gotta admit, that is pretty dang ugly. OTOH, if you put some real tires on it, Jody should be able to pull his mobile home with it..
