Call it whatever you want. All I know is it is sleak and loud and fast; it is a multi-trophy winner at bike shows up and down the east coast; and is a head turner every place I take it. A thousand rice burners drive by, nobody notices; a Harley drives by, everybody looks. You just can't beat heritage and prestige.
Sounds like a bar hopper to me. BTW, I don't play in the snow either...not fond of freezing. I hibernate instead.
Oldguy, I bet that Goldwing is a whole lot more comfortable than the old Venture. I've ridden a few of both & just can't quite get used to the big windshield in front of me. Too accustomed to wind blast, I guess.
BTW, I see what looks like a Corbin seat & some Kuryakyn hiway pegs on there. Nice upgrades.

Motorcycling, firearms and hunting are my lifelong passions. I started riding as a preteen around 1969. My current ride is a 97 Honda Valkyrie I've put 76,000 miles on since I bought her in July of 2004.
I live in Indiana but have ridden the Valk through 21 states so far. Hope to hit all the lower ones and Alaska eventually if money and work don't prevent it.
My youngest son who also rides a Valk and I took a 5000 mile nine day trip last year to the Northwest. We spent a few days in the Yellowstone area, rode the Beartooth highway, the "Highway to the Sun" in Glacier national park and made it to the Tetons too. Then rode home on US 2 along the Northern edge of the US, through upper and lower Michigan and back home.
Wish I could afford to do it again this year.
Thanks to the NRA we could carry through every state except Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota including the national parks. Ya can't "roll up your windows and lock your doors on a bike".

Valkrider, there are some pretty cool pics in your Photobucket album, the ones taken from the helicopter show some neat areas I haven't seen before. The bikes look great too, by the way.
Thanks.
Wish we could have found time to see more of the Western states including your home state of Utah. The endless horizons and open spaces of the West were awe inspiring. We originally planned a two week trip but my job intervened so we had to cut back on states visited and ride longer and harder during the days we had.
The helicopter ride was a ball. We were in the Mount Rushmore area when we spotted the helicoptor tours building and copters beside the road, turned around and went for a cruise. Helicopters maybe even more fun than motorcycles.

Let's see what I can run down in order over the years:
Solid frame, 5 hp minibike with two-stage centripetal clutch. A lot of fun running the alleys and vacant lots of my youth. Back in the day when the cops didn't care ** much
My brother had a Harley 50 around the same time. This HD was a cherry… boy, wish we still owned that bike!
1980 Kawasaki 550 LTD. Cute little bike, gold on black. Really out-grown before I bought it.
Got the next bike from my brother, we had been riding it for several years.
1973 Kawasaki 750, 2-stroke, H2 Mach4. Traditional blue. This bike was SICK! If you're familiar with 'em, enuff said. This cycle was stolen, and the guy that stole it was found a few hours later… wrapped around a light pole.
1983 Honda 750/4 Nighthawk. A beautiful black pin stripe on maroon. Nice little bike. I should have kept it but, didn't need two motorcycles. (this one, and the Vulcan).
1992 HD Fatboy. Nice candyapple blue, chrome and drag pipes. Dang, shoulda kept this one too!
1993 zx1100 Kawasaki Ninja. This bike was VERY ill. The difference in sickness between this one and the '73 Kawasaki is that the Ninja technology was designed to be bad; the '73 was just bad. I used to run this bike across the country roads as hard as my nerve could stand… and in those days, I could stand it… WHEW!
Rode a 2001 HD 1340 Electra Glide Police Ultra. This was a surprising Motor. Big and heavy but, very agile and fast. Nice bike, black/blue lettering on white. You couldn't escape this Motor, no matter the traffic or whatever. And two-week Motor school was a blast!
2000 Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan Nomad. Nice road yacht, black with lots of chrome. This is my current and only bike at this point. 9,880 miles and pretty sweet. I can't find the time to ride this beast, might as well sell her too.
This is about it… there are a couple of knock around dirt bikes omitted, a Yamaha and a Kawasaki.
So, until the next one… I'm OUT

ps
There are some very nice bikes posted here... nice job guys!
CF,
that lil CT70 is so cute. I remember them from my boy days, always wanted one. Today, I'd look like a circus bear riding it but, I'd have one in a second!

Those 3 cylinder kawasaki 2 strokes were the king of bad in their day. My brother had a 500 which was the fastest production bike ever built until the 750's if I remember right. Pretty wheelie happy when they came on the pipe.
My fastest and the only new bike I've owned was an 85 V65 magna. It was way faster 0-60 than my valk but the valk is easier to ride fast if you know what I mean.

Well, you asked for it...
I know, I know.. to the back of the class! Gettin used to it...
But, you've got to admit, for about 100 mpg, you could kinda get used to it. I've got about 1700 miles on this one in the past year or so. Looking to build another soon. I call it the "Andian". Okay, I promise never to bring this up again.
I've also had a couple of Kawasaki bikes. Rode a bunch of Intruders and Magnas, sport bikes and dirt bikes. Really wish I had my GPz1100 back again. THAT was a fun bike! I mean, in a different kind of way than my current ride. Oops! Sorry, did I bring that up again!?

My Reply:
The 500s were the fastest production bike until the introduction of the 750s. The '73 750 took that title. The 750 would 0-60 in 4 seconds (I swear a tad quicker) and turn a quarter mile in 7. Wheelie happy to say the least. When I rode like that, I had to lean over the handlebars. As I said and wish to stress, SICK!
One of my brother's friends was very petite in the day. I watched him crack the throttle on that 750, and both his feet came off the pegs and straight off the back of the seat. In that position, he couldn't let out of the throttle or anything else! I, to this day, do not know how he recovered the bike… and neither does he. The kill-switch saved a life that afternoon.
I've always wanted to add a Valk to my list. I've ridden them and love the power. A Gold Wing without the "wing." I do — know what you mean.
C5 rider, I like it!
I see that the double posts weren't my issue, hummmm?

Good! I mean, it sucks that your bike was stolen, but that's what the guy gets for stealing other people's stuff. Sounds like that guy got schooled the karma way!
My little CT70 was a fun conversation piece for a few years there. Last year I decided to sell it & put the proceeds toward my 7445 SM. It was a good trade off, I think.
C5rider, that bike it too funny! But I imagine it's fun to ride around the neighborhood. Although putting 1700 miles on something like that means you are one hardcore biker!

Thanks Charger,
It is fun, in its own way. I wouldn't drive across the state on one (although some have done it) and there's no WAY I'd be slidin into any spandex in my current physical condition! For going to the store or, heading out for a quick bite to eat, it's pretty good. I built it out of an $80 Wal-mart bike. The only thing left of the original bike is the frame and handlebars. Motorized bicycles are a bit of a grey area, many states "allow" them while others are completely against them. In FL. if you don't do anything to make them ask questions, they seem pretty content not to pay attention to you. The way it should be. I think you'll be seeing more of these with the currrent gas prices.

I left the 750 in the custody of a friend while I was away for a few months. He, unfortunately, parked it on his car port with the key. Morally, I feel bad for the thief as his life changed forever that night... literally, not so much. I was going to keep this bike around for a long time. The perp ruined the 750, and himself.
Seems you just may have made a good trade-off for the BMW. That lil CT70 is mighty cute though. I rode a BMW Police Motor a couple of times. Nice motorcycle.
C5rider, I get the visual of you wearing a German style chrome helmet with a spike on top... and huffing your creation to Wally World! I can't scoff at 100 mpg however; actually, I'm a bit jealous.

Not German, Russian. I had a friend visiting Moscow and he sent me a MIG fighter helmet complete with insert and tinted shield. They're wanting me to make a 'tube of me riding my bike with it. I'm not sure if I want that out in the general public domain. Might want to run for President or something some day. Surely, that would come back to haunt me!

You don't even have to have birth certificate any more so I think you'll be okay with the video.

Exactly! Plus, you don't have to share portions of your education history if you don't want to...and when asked if you inhaled, you can say YES. Apparently not many people care about little technicalities like those these days.
Besides, a bike like that with a 100 MPG rating would make all those greenies really happy, you'd be a shoe-in.
