Thanks to xFinity, I have access to a LOT of channels/programs on TV, my wifeis constantly crabbing at me about my tendency to channel surf until I find what I want to watch. More often than not, the surfing stops at American Pickers. I know it's scripted/staged to some extent, I just like seeing the cool, interesting old stuff.

Where does your "Surfing Wave" crest?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Pickers is good, Mike & Frank a little annoying, but love cool finds esp. MCs & Vehicles.

Lot of History & AHC (Military channel). And Andy Griffith show. rofl

Used to watch on metv (till canceled) Combat & 12 0'Clock High. Old stuff better than a lot of new.

Wife & I like Vikings & Hell On Wheels also, anyone else? Vikings is intence.

I'd watch Combat and 12 O'clock High anytime, and Tour of Duty (War in Vietnam) as well.

Watched a few hours of American Restoration last night and then while waiting on the better half for bed, flipped to the Military Channel and watched a story on Navy air defenses of WWII.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

American Restoration is fun to watch.

The ones that really turn me off lately are most of the car restoration.auction/buying selling cars, and the Pawn Shop programs.

I do enjoy "Chasing Classic Cars", F40 Motorsports is about two miles away, and they are pretty OK with you walking through the lot and showroom, even if you are never going to be able to afford one.

Lest I forget. When I can't find a show of interest. I end up on Fox News. Esp.O'Reilly Factor. Good info.otherwise, but repetition every half hour gets old quick. And left thinks FNC is Satanism poke

I used to watch Pickers, until I noticed a trend...they would drive 1,200 miles on a tip, get there, spend two days and find an old gas station sign from 1932, buy it for $300 so they could sell it for $450 and claim a whopping profit...

If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

I have met Mike from Pickers a few times. I bought my mountain bike from him years ago when he had his shop in Moline IL....I know, there are no mountains in north IL...... His step-son played football with my Grrrlfriends nephew and was at the wedding couple years ago. I have been in the store in LeClaire, Iowa a couple times. Mikes a good, hard working guy that came up with an interesting idea for a "reality.?"show.  . Its entertaining and portrays America a whole lot better than shows  like "16 and pregnant", Kardashians, etc.  IMHO

I wish someone would replay the Victory at Sea series.

I bought Victory at Sea the DVD set and a lot of the WWII stuff. I like to watch that and anything that is actually "History or learning". I can't stand reality "drama queen" TV and most of the stuff made today is just fake. I'm by nature a geek but CGI has ruined movies and TV for me. And commercials have become so pervasive on TV that I lose interest in a show before the plot develops. I'll take a 70's sitcom, drama, suspense, over anything made today. Thank God I have a good DVD collection. I'll take a good pre 80's war movie or western over almost all of the current creations. Guess I getting old or I don't recognize creative talent anymore. Perhaps both.

Sorry to have put up a Topic that nobody would enjoy laugh

When I was "not working" for a while, I "On Demand"ed a lot

Magnum PI beginning to end

Crime Story, ditto

Lots of old movies on DVD from the local library

Every episode of Blue Bloods, (many times, and DVR'd  for new episodes)

And a classic that has not been mentioned, This Old House

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I know this show was mentioned already, I was up pretty early and cruising the channels, AMC is running hours and hours of The Rifleman right now. Late 50's to early 60's, a few observations:

1) What rifle did The Rifleman use?

2) I think his rifle is a Bump Action?

3) The show ALWAYS opens with Chuck Connors shirtless and wet, and there is frequently a snappy lookin' babe involved in the plot somewhere along the line. The Rifleman was probably not lonely very often!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
