Did You know, both are WWII heroes? Mr Rogers wore the classic sweater to cover sleeve tats. on his arms from time in service !!!
Ok I must chime in here and I apologize to the admins if I am going off topic. Pete I am sure you are quoting info from an old story that was spread all over the internet a few years ago that is full of falsehoods. I personally find false info about an individual's military service to be one of the most irritating things so I will attempt to set it right.
1. Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) did enlist in the Marines near the close of WWII but did not see any combat. (to me this still makes him a hero, being an 18 year old kid who joined the US Marine Corp an was willing to fight for his country).
2. Fred Rogers (Mr Rogers) was never in the service and did not have any tattoos. He was just a nice guy who hosted a neat kid's show.
3. Lee Marvin was a private in the US Marines during WWII and was wounded during the invasion of Saipan. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. I do not think he received any medals for valor beyond the Purple Heart. He is indeed an American hero to me.
Again I apologize for going off topic, but if we are going to spread rumors and bullshit stories here on the DWF it will just turn into every other garbage dump forum on the web. Here are a couple links to back up my statements. I can find more if anybody doesn't have the time to research this for himself.

Adam 12, yes, Dragnet too
Emergency? Best part of that show was Dixie McCall! I got a soft spot (maybe "soft" is not exactly right ) for nurses.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Wasn't Dragnet basically an early version of "Cops"?, based on true events just not filmed live? Or was that just all Hollywood hype?
If you remember, at the opening they said. "The story you are about to see is true....the names have been
changed to protect the innocent" And the ending always showed the sentence. True or not ????
And everybody [almost] smoked on tv back then !! And killed some. Seems unheard of today.

I think that Dragnet was pure 60's Hollywood BS. Doesn't mean it was not entertaining in a very hokey and predictable way. Need to remember that what America wanted then was for someone to be in charge and protect us.

If were going to talk about Dixie and "soft spots" errr whatever I think we should pay homage the girl they named the shorts after. Gentlemen I give you Daisy Duke, Cathrine Bach, from the Dukes of Hazard. The show was totally hokey but you had to appreciate those shorts!

If you want to go that route, How bout Charlie's AngelsI had this poster of Farrah Fawcett on my wall for years !
Hey Stinger, I had that poster too. In fact that was the best selling pin up poster in history. Mine was soon accompanied by the poster for "The Deep" with Jacqueline Bisset. That movie solidified errr-whatever my life long love of scuba diving. I have a copy of that poster as well, but I'm sure you will remember it. And it might violate the forum rules, although the movie was rated PG at the time.
