We recently changed our cable/internet provider, and as part of the deal we got access to a pretty extensive library of older movies. I'm really looking forward to viewing some "oldies but goodies", many of the new movies just seem ???

Last night was "The Searchers", incredible cinematography and, uh, The Duke!

This afternoon was M*A*S*H, a great movie that became an even greater TV series. I still remember rushing home from work to watch "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen", the final episode.

What "oldies" do you watch?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Well let's see, in the last month or so I've caught:

Longest Day

Patton

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

Dirty Harry

Fist Full of Dollars

Midway

Das Boot

The only old movie I have watched recently is the original "Walking Tall" with Joe Don Baker filmed around 1970. I have it on an old VHS tape up at our cabin.

Just started watching the "Rawhide" tv show from when I was alittle kid. Westerns were the staple for my grandfather and we watched what ever was on that night.

Steve CT, was there ever another TV series made like MASH?  Though, I had to see a lot of reruns.

Whenever we watch old episodes of M*A*S*H, my wife always gets grumpy when I repeat the dialogue word for word. And since I have the entire TV series on DVD, it's pretty easy to watch them even without the "On Demand" on cable.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

"One ping only, Vasily. One ping only, please."

Not that old, I suppose but it's my favorite.  My son and I watch it and do the dialogue together.

My three all time favorites are;

1) High Noon

2) Paint Your Wagons

3) Once Upon A Time In The West

Of a more recent nature, Forrest Gump and Saving Private Ryan.

I maybe should have not started this topic, because there are so many great suggestions here, no way can I keep up.

There are a very few shows on "current" TV that I really need to watch:

1) Blue Bloods

2) American Pickers

3) Dancing With The Stars

I know, very strange choices, all three very entertaining in their own (to me) way'

Especially #3 embarassedwinkbig-grindrooldrooldroolwifewhipping

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
