I shop the local Goodwill Store every other week or so, and see a fair amount of junk, and some interesting stuff, every so often I actually buy something. This weeks Big Score:
The Lava Lamp
Pretty sure there was a red version of this in the basement rec room when I was much younger, I know there was one hanging around when I was in college.
This sucker gets frighteningly hot, powered by a 40 (60?) watt appliance bulb. I stare at it endlessly, my wife alternates between laughing at me, and pointing out that I am way too easily amused.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

All I can say in my defense is :
1) I was never very smart to begin with
2) I have a significant family medical history of Alzheimer's
3) I am easily amused by bright shiny objects
4) Alcohol may have been involved
I'm going to watch my Lava Lamp now until Nurse Ratchett tells me it's bedtime.

Stinger, you have clearly not met MY Nurse Ratchett. One (actually two) other people here know my Nurse, trust me, she is driving the bus.
Bedtime is a totally different matter

Yes, it is the heat of a 40(maybe 60) watt incandescent appliance bulb. The base gets scary hot, not anything I would leave unattended (ie.-no fire extinguisher nearby)
It's just fun, and it pisses my wife off! A Double Winner!
