The 'Other Wall' thread being about members other non gun hobbies/collections got me thinking.  So here is my 'other wall', not a collection but an obsession none the less.  Also my retreat, and 'happy place'.  Does anyone else share my dual passions?  016-1.JPGImage Enlarger

Fishing, boating  and just being on the water are my other non gun passions, anybody else on here do similar? I am a member of the United States Power Squadron and have taken many advanced courses in seamanship and navigation over the years.  I still have yet to master the sextant but when time permits, I plan to add that skill to my tool bag, not that I'll ever need it, but just to expand my horizons.

Sounds like a good skill to have Chris,  and you never know when it could come in handy. I try hard to keep up my tracking skills along with my map and compass reading... you just never know..proud-to-be-an-american

When I was but a young teenager, I had the good fortune to spend some time sailing the lower Great Lakes with "Doc" Wilson, a friend of the family.

My REAL objective was his daughter, a goal partially achieved a few years later, but I did end up having a lot of fun learning the basics of sailing aboard his 32' Islander. We had many day sails, and a couple of 2-3 day sailing trips up Lake Huron and back to the Detroit Yacht Club.

I also did a LOT of bottom sanding and painting in the off season.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

We had a small boat growing up at the lake not to far away.  My dad sold it when I was a teenage but still go fishing with my uncle from time to time but not often enough!  Certainly looks like fun!

I certainly think this opens up some questions that are probably not suitable for open forum!
