book I picked up at the library yesterday has turned out to be very interesting and informative. It is written mostly from the perspective of the Associated Press photo journalists, but includes some excellent history and remarkable photographs.

The link is to Amazon, and I'm not recommending that anyone buy this book, as I said, i have it from the local library.

One of the best things about this book is the historical break down in each chapter that cover spans of several years and year by year during the height of American involvement. Each segment includes many photo's, military actions, political activity in the US, anti-war activities, etc. This book is about 80% pictures and 20% words.

One of the best I've seen and worth a read

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:

if you find one...what's your plan?

Sounds interesting Steve, I think I will have to take a look at this book.

On a side note, ever since trade relations have been restored with them, it still strikes me odd when I receive items at work that have been manufactured in Vietnam.

On a side note...I read that half the population of

Viet Nam is under the age of fifty. Think about that...no first hand experience of this conflict.

photo- I think you (and Mike) will find this book especially interesting. There is a lot of photography related discussion in this book, the cameras and techniques involved, especially as the war evolved.

One of the most poignant parts was a copy of a letter from the AP Saigon Bureau chief describing the Nikkor and Leitz cameras and lenses that needed to be "written off" because they were lost in action, with the death on an AP photojournalist.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for the heads-up Steve.  I'm definitely going to check it out from the library for the photography.  I served during Nam but was lucky enough to never have had to be in-country. I thank God for that blessing every day. Also, because of remaining posted in the US, I met my wife; another blessing.

It's a really good book, it does a great job of giving concise year by year history of the conflict, and it really is photo oriented.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I'm trying to find it now, county library system doesn't have it.

On a side note, again, this link has incredible information, some of which

was highly classified. Hours of reading.
