Our house has traditionally had two dogs, one elder learning from the new pup until the cycle repeats. A few years ago we adopted an older beautiful Australian Shepherd that needed a home as her owner moved to Ireland, and we cared for her until she passed from old age a year ago.
It seemed time once again to think about adding another pup to the clan, so a few days ago I happened to notice an ad for a German Shepherd cross and thought I would quite like to see the pups. Well, only one pup was left and it looked more like a Beagle cross, other than her strong Shepherd legs. Her temperament is amazing and I am surprised she was the last pick of the litter, so I knew what was going to happen next...
She was coming home with me.
Of course, my sons were excited to no tomorrow. The family collectively decided to name her Luna.
Regardless of breed, I think she's cute as heck and I'm very happy with finding her to add to our family. I prefer mutts, all of my best behaved and family-loving dogs have been mixed breeds.
So I know what I'm doing for the next 15 years and I'm happily looking forward to it.
