You can tap on the forcing cone end w/ a mallet enough to expose the nut and grip w/ (protected) pliers. I just tried it w/ my 41 spare barrel and shroud. A squirt of kroil or other lubricating oil between the barrel and shroud may help...

I agree, if this is just a shroud, barrel and nut...the spanner slots could have been smooshed upon removal at some point, threaded on backwards and driven into the shroud. I know mine the barrel nut fits very "perfect?" in the recess in the shroud. I would put an old sock or a rag over the muzzle side and whack it firmly with a mallet at the cone end, if the hole she-bang lets go the cloth will keep the barrel and suspect nut from flying accross the room.
If it's on the gun, I would use a good ice pick device and keep it as on center of the backwards nut while in a barrel vice and reverse it out like that.
I used the pointed punch to remove the cloverleaf wheel nut-locks on a Vette with aluminum wheels using this technique.
