Hi guys. My father n law recently passed and I inherited his Dan Wesson 357 Magnum 15-2. It has the 4 inch barrel on it at the moment, but has a 10 inch and a 15 inch barrel that goes with it. The 15 is not in very good shape. The barrel is good but the shroud has a lot of rust and pitting. Does anyone know if it can be fixed and if it's worth anything as is?

It can be refinished but will show the pits left  from the rust, unfortunately. The pits appear too deep to be completely polished away. As is, on ebay, who knows what it may fetch. 15" BAs in good shape go for a premium amount at auction, often over $1000.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Yeah that rust/pitting appears too deep to be completely removed/polished. Send a few photos to Bob at DW to see what he thinks. Bob@cz-usa.com

Thanks for the info! I'll try and send Bob some pics too. I'm going to get some pics of the DW gun I just inherited here on the forum as soon as I get some time.

So I took Andrew122's advice and sent Bob some pics, and here was his reply........

That’s a 15 inch shroud isn’t it? They are no longer available and very expensive on the used market. It may be worth trying to save. I can’t get the deep pits out , but I can kill the rust and polish and blue it. To re do it would be $100.00 plus return shipping. Bob

DO IT!! roflrofl

I'm either going to have Bob do it and put it on eBay and see what I can get for it or I'm going to sell it as is and let some one else deal with it. I won't ever use this long of a barrel so I'll let someone else enjoy it...lol. drool

I'll do you a favor and take that "old rusty " assembly off your hands, lets say $ 100.00. I'll take a chance on pitting showing through after finishing, thats just the kinda guy I am....a friend to all rofl pokebuy-now

I bought a 15 inch barrel that looked similar (but not as bad) on eBay. The barrel inside was perfect. I spent a long time removing the active rust and it came out looking ok. I bought an actual nice one later and sold it to someone on here. It’s definitely worth saving I think.13551695-20F5-4670-873A-21E4C8A01CBA.jpegImage Enlarger
