2012 SHOTSHOW next week 1/17-1/20 in LAS VEGAS
I will attend the shotshow again this year. Last year I was able to
see and handle the new 715 revolver and talk with Alice, the CEO of CZ/ Dan Wesson.
Maybe I can get some insight on if and when the new 715's will be
released.
Report to follow.

AS promised, here is the follow up:
Good news, long conversation with Keith today 1/19 at the SHOTSHOW
new 357's are being shipped to CZ-USA starting early next week.
NOT SO GOOD NEWS, No new advertising until 2013 they want to catch up with current orders before they take on new ones.
QUESTIONS POSED TO KEITH
What happen to Aug/Sept delivery date
ANSWER
CZ jumped the gun and came out with these dates before we were set up
and many problems came up with parts etc. decision was made to do it
right even if late.
QUESTION
Why pick the 357 and not another cal.
ANS: Had to pick one and only one to start because of cost, 357 most popular
2nd choice 44 cal.
Q.....Do you think $1265 per is a little much?
A......That is the lowest we could do it for and make a profit, it was this
price, or not at all. We are competing with S&W and RUGER who both sell
tons of guns, we do not. ....End of report
P>S> Last year at the show the 357 was on display, not this year.
I also spoke with one of the contractors who work for CZ on a part-time basis
who state that he had a 357 SS brand new, made last year while they were
making the one for display. It contains revolver, 2,4,6,8,10" VH bbls, case ,tools
wood grip rubber grip and scope. Looking to get $2500.00 for the pac
Anyone interested, I will provde his name and contact.

Thanks for the update, since you got the info from Keith, I'm inclined to think it's pretty accurate. Guns "going to CZ" does not mean they hit the shelves anytime soon. Also, CZ's definition of profit may be the factor driving these up to $1265 MSRP.
All that being said, it's a good thing to have the DW revolvers coming out as new production, and to have a Large Frame in the on deck circle, because the step from Large Frame to SuperMag is a much shorter step than Small Frame to SuperMag.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Guns shipped to CZ, from where? DW? I'm confused. If CZ bought DW from Bob Serva, did not the tooling come with the purchase? If so, what happened to it? It would seem that it should be a very easy step to restart production of a proven design on existing state of the art CNC machines. This is what is confusing me, its not like they have to reinvent the wheel here.
BTW thanks to TWO44 for the leg work and bringing us this good news.
It will be nice to be able to buy a NEW DW agian, and to get BAs and parts for our existing guns. I hope they get up and running quickly so that we may see some more calibers in the future, although I think we will be waiting until 2014-15 for Supermags and other large frame guns. Just my opinion though.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Someone here should snarf that, a prototype DW/CZ PP would be sure to hold it's value, IMO. Plus, the would be nice to see.
Thanks for the report, Two44.

Thanks for the update - I sent you a PM for contact info. - I'd like to talk to the guy. I might be interested in it provided it is was built to spec. . Remember, the one on display last year was a prototype and it showed it. The cylinder stop was tig welded on and the finishes didn't match. Anyway, please send me over the info. - I'd like to talk to him about it.
Thanks.

I had always understood that they were being made in Norwich, my guess is they are being shipped to CZ in KS for distribution. I wonder if the 1911's are handled that way as well, it doesn't really sound like Norwich has the staff and infrastructure for large scale shipping to a large variety of distributors.
