Took the opportunity for a quick trip to the range this morning. 40F and a little misty rain but you can't pick the weather when you have a day off.
Last month I bought a 732-20, of course ammo locally is nonexistent. Midway has ammo, kind of expensive and from what I hear mostly cowboy stuff, low powered and dirty. But, they do have in stock brass, good variety of bullets, and dies. I ended up buying 100pcs of brass, 3 different boxes of bullets and the dies too for what 2 boxes of factory loads would have cost. So, 32-20 ammo is rather expensive to buy but really is inexpensive to reload. Being a novice reloader I figured I'd give it a try.
First trial run, I loaded 10 95gr. lead, I am happy to report they went bang and at 15yds hit the target. Not a pretty group but a success so I will be back at the reloader cranking out some more to try.
Also took my model 40 Supermag, I bought last August, only the second range trip for it, but buying a reloader, setting it up and the learning curve of loading had kept the Supermag on the back burner for a while. After a few rounds to sight in, I was very happy with a good group (for me) at 25yds from sandbags.
Also shot 10 rounds from my PM7 I bought last October, I think only the second range trip for it too. By then I was getting a little cold, of course the only gloves I had along got wet and muddy opening the gate at the club to get in. I will say, it is quite a transition from the Supermag directly to shooting the .45! I can't wait for spring to be here.

And the smell of burnt powder must have been awesome! Thanks for the pics- we NEED to tee up that 732-20 for next year's calendar. Send it to me and I'll take a few staged pictures for you- I should be able to get it back to you around October...

Sounds like a fun time Lonwolf. How does that cartridge handle in a DW? I'm going to guess recoil is mild. How difficult was it to load this cartridge? It has a neck on it doesn't it? I haven't fired mine yet but need to soon. I agree with the trouble finding ammo for it locally. I think our favorite LGS has some rounds for it, that is when they aren't sold out.
What powder did you go with?

Ron, ah, tell you what bring your 32-20 in your signature pic on up to PA and we will take some awesome pics!
Recoil is very mild, although it gives a nice crisp loud bang. I used 231 powder in my initial loads, I have 3 different bullet weights so I am now going to put together a variety of loads with a couple powders and see how things fly. It is a necked case, the new brass (starline) came with a paper which said to size the neck before using, so I set the sizer die up and ran them through after a light lube. Just followed the loading instructions with the die set (Lee) and it seemed to go well. Keep in mind my loading experience is very limited, I have only done a few each of 38/357 mag/357 max. But I have not blown my fingers off yet and am learning a lot. The 32-20 brass seems thinner so I was leery of crushing them while seating bullets or something but did not have any trouble. In my opinion for any of you experienced loaders who want to shoot this round I would not bother with factory loads I would just get a set of dies and load your own. Midway has Starline, Winchester, and Remington brass.

Greetings
That was fun to read ! Had my 32/20 out for a few runs this past fall and was very happy with it.
I do my own cast bullets and found the 115 plain base grainer to shoot nicely in my DW. Do not have that reloading info with me but do know I was using 2400 and Unique. Decided it was plenty accurate to accompany me crawling ditches and woods for close up shots on groundhogs.
And the Supermags are all great calibers. Have a Model 40 also but never got it out this last time up north in the USA. I spent alot of time shooting 414 SM in my DW revolver and a Marlin 336 I had JES bore to .412 groove and I chambered in .414 SM. That makes a nice caliber in a lever gun. Had hoped to get a load that would shoot well in both but it di not happen. The Marlin is cartride length sensitive and needed an OAL to feed reliably that is too long for the DW cylinder.
But keep at the bench loading and you will never regret getting started.
