We've sucked up 5 rockets in the last 24 hours and a Forward Operating Base just to our south was targeted with a large truck bomb (see FOX news). The Company that was hit there was one of my old Companies from another Battalion. All thoughts and prayers are definately coveted. None of my Soldiers have been wounded, but we had three civilan workers peppered w/ shrapnel in yesterday's attacks.
I'm writing this as I sit in full kit.... just another day to us over here.
Best Regards, Ron

The images of that day seem like yesterday. A cowardly act carried out by evil men.
God bless all our men and women who are sacrificing to keep us safe. I pray that God keeps them safe and helps them in their task.
Ron and all the vets here, a personal thank you to all of you. Stay safe, keep your men safe and good hunting. May all your missions be swift and successful.

10 years later, 3650 days later, and much has changed. I think/hope that the most important change has been that we know every day that we are feared, hated, and under attack. This threat will never go away, and more tragic losses will occur. They occur every day in Iraq, Afghanistan, and many places we never hear about.
I hope we learned on that day to resist, we know now that much more than just our individual comfort and safety is at risk. Possibly the most valiant heroes of that day are the passengers of Flight 93 who resisted, and lost their lives saving others.
What I won't do is join in the Media Event that September 11 has become. I know what I need to know, and I remember what I need to remember of that day. A surprising number of people who lost their loved ones have spoken up to say that these kinds of media circus events simply make their lives more painful. There are many days that I remember, I don't need our entertainment driven "News Media" to tell me what any of them mean. Some of these folks are the biggest terrorists of all, inflating our fears and prejudices in pursuit of a Ratings number so they can sell advertising time for more money.
The women and men of our Military, Intelligence, Police, Fire, Emergency Medical, ... services are Heroes every day. September 11 does not make them more heroic, September 12 does not make them less heroic.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
