I'll jump in again, just to remind everyone-Be Civil. Tough on the Issues, not on the people.
A shooter I know well has one one of the SureFire 60 rd mags for AR, and a bunch of 30 rd Pmags. Pretty sure he's selling off the SureFire and some Pmags to fund other projects.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I think, at the root, the issue isn't whether anyone *needs* any particular object, it's whether any group of humans should have the right to dictate to another group of humans what they may or may not own. It's an issue of control.
The best example of a needs-based society was demonstrated by the Soviet Union, where everyone was supposedly supplied with their needs, and were expected to provide the best of their ability. We know how well that worked, and the only thing that kept 'em going past the '40s was the windfall they got from the U.S. during WW2.
No, we don't need to get tied up in dictating our neighbors "needs". The most noble reason to buy and own anything can be phrased very simply: "I want it." That's all that matters. If you need it, that's fine too.
During a SHTF scenario, we've seen that there's a use for arms. If there's an official armed presence, and if it's tying itself up by disarming peaceful residents, then I'd have some moral issues with what they were doing, which is HIGHLY illegal (and far more importantly, just plain wrong). Disarming citizens in order to ensure that you have a monopoly on force in an area is pure Chicago gangster.
Wouldn't it be great if all wars could be fought just by the a-holes who started them?

Remember this guy?
Charles Joseph Whitman
(June 24, 1941 – August 1, 1966) was an engineering student and former Marine who killed 14 people and wounded 32 others in a shooting rampage located in and around the Tower of the University of Texas in Austin on the afternoon of August 1, 1966. Three persons were killed inside the university's tower, with 11 others murdered after Whitman fired at random targets from the 28th-floor observation deck of the Main Building. Prior to starting the shootings at the University of Texas, Whitman had murdered both his wife and mother in Austin.
He killed most of these people with a bolt action hunting rifle. No AR, no 30 round mags, not exposed to TV or video game violence. This behavior has gone on as long as man has been on the earth. Some people are good, some are evil, some just plain nuts.
The killings in Connecticut were horrific, but the killer could just have easily walked in with a revolver and a box of ammo, and the outcome would not have changed. Hell, he could have gone to home depot and bought a machete, and the outcome would not have changed.
I am bothered when a group of people will use an incident as an excuse to control another group. I can understand when some don't see the reason for a certain kind of weapon or magazine, but this is not the real issue. It is easier to ban things slowly than all at once. That is the real desire of the antigun crowd, control, of you and me.
Support all gun rights or everyone loses!

Well, that didn't work, so:
1) Topic Locked
2) Multiple posts deleted
3) I apologize for being so understated with my advice. Next time, I promise to be less subtle.
So that I am perfectly clear, no more discussion of the Original Post, or the very few crabby "push back" posts that occurred in this Topic (which have been deleted) are acceptable.
