I had given up even checking WalMart for ammo about 4 weeks ago. Tonite I stopped in and got WWB 9mm (100 rd) under $20. The guy at the counter said they are getting 9mm, .40. and .45 every week now, I had just missed out on .45.
He also told me that it comes in every Friday, and he gets it out onto the shelf around lunchtime.
I'm not planning on stockpiling outrageously, but I'm not going below 1000 each on 9mm and .357, and 500 each on .40 and .45 ever again (well, not until I start reloading)
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

On AR15.com Hometown/New England a bunch of guys have a CT Walmart Ammo tracker topic, that gets updated pretty quickly whenever there's a sighting. Never any sightings noted on the one I went to, and lots of "no ammo" notations on the two I drove past to get mine.
I'm shy about 1000 rd (total) on getting back to my minimums. What really surprised me was that the prices are virtually the same as pre-shortage

All of you are smart! Yes the pricing at Walmart is excellent and I have been buying there for the last few months....went shopping with the wife and notcied the pricing and there shot shell pricing blows away everyone else including the distributors......
Not to mention that their pricing on all other items for the shooting sports is excellent, why order online for these items...their less at Walmart than Bass Pro shops!
Best pricing in tonw for name brand items siuch as Winchester and Remington.....I was shocked at how low they are......they have a lot of buying power obviously.

Hello gunsmoke, Welcome to DWF. When you have a chance, please stop by our New Members area and tell us more about yourself and your Dan's, past, present, and future.
As long as Wally World has ammo, it's my best place to buy unless I need something pretty special like HD/SD ammo. Supply there has been pretty spotty, but getting better.
I've had occasion to make the DELMARVA area part of travel about twenty times over the years, it's really nice country, and good travelling as long as you don't get stuck behind a chicken truck

After loading up on the underperforming Blazer brass 115gr fmj 9mm at Walmwart all winter, pickings have been much, much better the last several months. Full disclosure - I am good friends with the 2 gun counter employees who unload supplies and stock the ammo at my closest Walmart. And, occasionally, they're not too quick at setting, um, certain calibers out. I bought out all of the Federals 7mm rem mag at under 17.xx box (woo hoo), wiped out the Federal 9mm at just under 9.xx, box (excellent performance for a 9mm,) have stocked up weekly on Remington/UMC .44 mag 180gr jsp, but not a great price at 32.xx/box. I've made some mistakes; at the heart of crunch time, all they were getting were the Blazer 9mm and Winchester .38's, which, for my shooting, do not perform out past 50 yds (absolutely fall off the table.) .22 Mags are the same price at Wally's as at Cabela's for Rem 33 gr accutip. Cabela's also carries Hornady 30gr vmax for the equivalent price, which is a slightly better performer.
For deer hunting, I really prefer Federal vital shock 30-06 165 b sierra btsp (Cabela's.) For very long shots, I stick with 7mm. For .308, I absolutely recommend Black Hills 168 gr boattails. I'm almost out. These were my shooters until the last year or so. I had quite the stash I purchased at around 14.xx/box. Now, they up over 30 bucks. I haven't bought .357's in a few years. I have a ways to go on that supply.
Truth be told, we have more Ex Marines around here than you can shake a stick at. And, during crunch time, I can pay them a visit. Really, they're a hoot. It's amazing how much ammo those jarheads keep in supply at any one time. Makes my hoard look like a pittance.
Truly, I am blessed.

I reload everything on the plant (almost)... except I still can't reload .22 lr.... I used to go to Wally world every friday and pick up a brick of Federal 22 bulk pack, but now I have so much of it I need to shoot some up !!! Their prices have remained fair throughout the ammo crunch, and I will continue to give them my business.
