My American Hero is my son, who will be returning from his deployment in the Northern Arabian Gulf in April, and my American Classic is my original Model 15-2, bought new in 1977 (my first gun). I gave this to my son a couple of years ago, when he comes home I will "give" it to him again, with the addition of an LB grip:
At first glance, it's a really nice grip, until you see this:
I first contacted Lawrence about making me a special grip about a month ago, asking about using acrylic to put the "flag" in to honor my son's committment to his career and our country. This grip is slightly larger (top-bottom length) than a DW Target Grip, as requested, and is a perfect fit to a slightly larger hand. You can't see it from these photos, but the laminate pattern on each side of the grip is virtually mirror image, and sculpted to give lot's of contast and character to the appearance.
In typical LB fashion, he will not accept payment for this. With his approval I am making a donation to the USO in his honor, continuing his behavior of "paying it forward".
Once again, I stand in awe of a genuine craftsman.
As a final note: Please do not pester LB to make you a grip, he does not do this for any commercial gain (I think he could and should, maybe he's thinking about it?). I hesitated to post these photos, because I know that it's a labor of love for him and he has made grips for some folks here, as well as for DWF Auctions. He does not need to get buried in requests, so please admire, comment, and enjoy.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Once again I am showered with undeserved complements. I was proud to build a grip for a patriot returning home. Folks keep telling me to charge for the grips but it just doesn't seem right as it is a labor of love. I am working on building some equipment to help me speed up the inletting process so I may be able to offer some custom grips at a minimal cost in the future. Any way I do have a few grip projects in the works so there will be more to see in the future. Thanks again for the generous comments.

Steve: It's great news to hear that your son will be finishing his tour in April! Also, there is no question that he will appreciate the grip. It is very unique and add character to the revolver.
LB: Fantastic workmanship on the revolver grip! It is evident by the grip's appearance and quality, the you take much pride in your work.
