I was at a shop today and came across a Dan Wesson "SURE SIGHT" bench rest. It's "not for sale" but I've neither heard of nor seen one (til today).
Is there anyone here who knows anything about these? Production numbers, production dates, value, etc.
I'm sorry, I took pics with my phone but at this time I can't email them (phone issue). I usually email them from my phone to my home email account, save them and from there post the pics to here.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That is it SHOOT. Thank you for finding it and posting it here. I had done a forum search but there were far too many posts to sift through and I wasn't sure I'd even find it.
Does anyone know how many and when they were produced?
Are they serial numbered?
How much they cost back then and their value today?
These to me are such a cool piece of DW history that I never knew about.
fixed that for ya- rwsem
Thank you rwsem.

My blessing to you long time collectors for bringing info like this to the top so newcomers like me can learn.
The Sure Sight is definitely on my want list but I'd settle for the pistol in Shoot's post a few back.

Jim, I've been here for a while . The stuff our Staff Members dig back and find often amazes me. 118531 posts is a LOT of history.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I'll bet if another pops up it will double the price of that one.
Wowzer, would that really be the case? They do seem to be rare indeed then.
I appreciate all the feedback on this from you all. Steve is correct, it is amazing what people have knowledge of and that are more than willing to share that info.

Although my first ever pistol purchase in the '80s was a DW 15V pistol pac I sold it a few years later and didn't get back to the sport til a few years ago. I will put myself in the "old-timer" category. The two .357s I purchased recently and the .22 I've had for a while are, for the most part, my "collection".
I would also like to hear from someone who had/has one of these rests and have used it.
Was it accurate?
Was it easy to adjust?

Maybe I am just showing my ignorance. I had never seen one of these and, to be honest, I've never fired a pistol from a rest so I have no background/experience with them.
The reason I asked about the accuracy is because of the design. It looks like there would have to be a really close fit between the eyes of the turnbuckle and the retaining pins. Other-wise, it seems to me, there could be some play which, I would think, may affect the accuracy.

I don't think it's a matter of ignorance at all...no intent to offend.
Every pistol reacts differently regardless of how you shoot it...off hand, from a rest, shooting stick, etc. To me, and maybe this is my ignorance showing, accuracy reflects the ability of the pistol to consistently place a bullet in the same general area. The goal is the consistency of the pistol and the shooter.
I have often seen the comment on different gun sites..."the pistol shoots better than I do."
