As many of you know, IF you have an FFL MidwayUSA will offer
you a dealer discount. However, I just spoke with the management team and they
told me that if you have a website and the ability, not doing it, just the
ability, to sell any item, then MidwayUSA will no longer offer you a dealer
discount.

We spend from 40,000-70,000 dollars per year with them and
they just cut us off. Now, we have been a customer for 10 years, have had a
website for 10 years, and this is just now an issue. I bluntly told then that
it appears they do not want my business, and they agreed. Horsecrap in my
opinion and I will no longer business with them.

Just an FYI and my attempt to show them the same
discourteous service they are showing me.

Last time I did business with Midway, it seemed like I was talking to someone from Pakistan.

Not that there is a real problem with this, but it would seem they would employ people that know something about guns and such.  That experience left a sour taste in my mouth.  You will probably get better service from Midsouth or Natchez or LG Outdoors.

On the other hand, one would think a business that does your volume would deal with distributors.  I deal with a basement FFL and he deals with a distributor.

Ron:

Sorry to hear that. That's reaally bogus.  What is their logic?  If they don't sell to you; you can't resell for a profit, so guys like me will have to buy from them?

I think my Mother's expression for that was "cutting off your nose to spite your face".

Really stupid, IMHO.

My experience with Midway has always been very positive.  However, I'm just a - somewhat - average customer.  Even items that Midway says cannot be returned, they have accepted back for exchange (example: a barrel crown cutter).  It must be said that between my wife and me, we have spent ~ $12k with them over the past 6 -7 years.

I have purchased occasionally from them, as a general consumer they have dealt very fairly with them. Clearly they are cutting out the middleman by no longer discounting to dealers, just one more step in the "bigger is better" mentality that is killing off the small business/entrepreneurial ethic that built America.

Thanks for letting us know about this

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I use to do alot of busiess with Midway. They were the cheapest place around and everything was in stock. Then the shipping got a little out of hand and I started shopping around and could usually find it as cheap or cheaper and half the shipping cost. I have been giving my business to the guy that charges actual shipping now.

Yeah Midway sent me the big e-mail about thier new shipping so I did an order and checked the shipping, it was cheaper, but still not in line with others. Besides I have never seen Midway offer $4.99 shipping on any order like Midsouth has done. I know quite a few other guys are not happy with the shipping and now cutting off the dealers??? Time will bear what these decisions have on thier business.

I usually have ordered from them only when I could not find what I wanted in any other venue.  I still try to use my local shops and the FFL that supports my huge DWAS habitBig Grin.  I have used several other mail order or internet order firms with equal or better success.  I am not bashing Midway, just reporting my facts.  Ron,  I understand your position as I too am in business and experience similar situations all too frequently.

I haven't bought from them yet...but I'm just now getting into reloading & had plans of ordering from them. Guess what...there's other businesses I can buy from, if they're pulling that kind of crap.

BTW Ron, I've had you guys ship me SuperMag ammo on multiple occasions & I just wanted to say thanks for having this ammo available. Most other places like to mainly focus on the more common ammo. I really appreciate you guys.occasion

Ron,

I must have missed your first post, but Welcome to the DWF Sign.  Glad to have you.  I bought a .32 H&R S&W airweight from you a while back.  Great to have you spending time with us DW addicts.

I'm in the same boat as Charger.  Just about to get into reloading.  Do I buy stuff from my local Cabala's?  I guess I'll find out.

Cabela's is no deal Mike.  Some of the other sites that guys mentioned are good.  I like gun shows for bulk powder purchases or a good local dealer.  We have a shop near me that acts as a distributor and buys in very large bulk and passes the costs along likewise.  They cater to shotgunners primarily but have stuff for us wheelies also.

There are other places to buy reloading stuff. There's Widener's, Natchez, Midsouth Shooter's supply and a host of others. These places often have the same thing that Midway has for a lower price.

Thanks for all the kind words. I deal with several other houses and have moved my B/O list to them.

I used to be registered here when this site first opened, I found out I had to re-register, guess that is what I get for not posting. You'll see me from time to time, I'm short on browsing time so I tend to drop into the site, glance at the topics, read any that catch my eye, and drop right back out. The past 18 months have been so hectic...
