If you've had the same misfortune as I and picked up a barrel assembly only to have the barrel come sliding out of the shroud and slam into another shroud or gun and dinging it, here's my quick fix to avoid a reocurrence - slip a tight fitting o-ring over the barrel threads.  It will hold the barrel in the shroud and prevent a lot of heartaches.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

All my "Good" spares get covered in oil and then wrapped in Saran wrap.  Keeps them in good shape and prevents the slide-out problem.

Sorry Ron, Mine have all been thoroughly tested already.Smile

I wish I knew where to get those little expandable plastic tubes that DW uses to prevern this.  I would put one on every extra barrel assemble I own.

Ouch is right - that's exactly what I said! Yell Shoot's saran wrap is a good idea too.

Zoom - are you referring to the mesh protective sleeving?  I was considering buying a roll of this as well.  You can get it here at McMaster Carr.  I have a couple pieces of the red elastic mesh  - it fits well for most shrouds.

Chargerfan - good luck on the plaque - I hope you get it soon!

And Ron, mine have been "tested" as well! but it works!Wink

My idea (well new to me) which I already shared with Eric is for either or both the plastic and or AL end caps. (plastic caps migh slip on and AL caps would screw on)

I store my barrels separate from the shrouds. Can't ding what dont touch.

I do store my 8" barrel and shroud in a single fishing tackle little box, covered in chamios.

To further my idea. have the AL cap have a rubber gromet and a place to hold an anti-moisture capsule/rod. Living in MS, that would be crazy nice.

Even more, since Eric can completely customize a barrel ( different twists) we need to be able to identify such.

1/12 -green band/cap

1/16 - yellow band/cap

1/14 - red band/cap

Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box

in that order.

My one extra barrel/shroud is kept in a Bore Store for TC barrels.

IHMSA80x80, that looks like a pretty cool solution.  Looks like the case for small and medium knives would work great.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
