This may sound silly, but with ammo in critical short supply. Gun prices and gear going through the roof. Gun clubs and instructional class attendance down. At least in my neck of the woods. Most folks are not shooting as much as they use to. And when they do, they are making every shot count. This is almost like there is a ban without being a ban.
Makes one ponder.

Well around here, even though its still winter and its been cold alot, its hard to go to the public range and be able to get a shooting point due to the number of folks out shooting. I went last Mon. AM, cold, breezy, outdoor public range, and there were about 10 folks there in the middle of a work day. Not over crowded but a year ago I would have been all by myself. I have a some what flexible work schedule this time of year so I often go shooting at odd times so I don't have somebody breathing down my neck waiting for me to fininsh. One of the guys there last week had driven over an hour to get to this particular range, as he said all the private clubs in his area were booked.
I have noticed that few people leave any brass behind anymore. I used to come home with more brass than I shot but not that often now. I will say that I don't see people shooting quite as much at one outing as say a year ago. I reload so other than rimfire, I can reload what I shoot. Beauty of a revolver, you rarely loose your brass.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

A shooting buddy and I had a joking discussion along those lines back in 2008, you don't have to ban guns if you dry up the supply of ammo, but the panic buying seems to mean we're doing it to ourselves.
At my LGS in Oregon I can't get .357 any more, only 38spl. 2 boxes at a time if they have it. Like a greedy panic buyer I buy my 2 boxes whether I need it or not.
I finally broke down and got some used reloading equipment and will give that a shot. Of course finding powder, primers and projectiles isn't that easy or cheap either.

A friend of mine bought a "Wilson Combat" .45 2 weeks ago. The dealer who sold him the gun only allowed him to purchase 2 box's of 45 ACP's. One hardball, the other a box of Critical Defense. The only reason he allowed him 2 box's as he was told, was because he paid over 3 grand for the pistol. In cash. And that did not include the price of the ammo. I "loaned" him 2 box's of my reloads with the condition that I get to fire at least one full mag from one of the best 1911's you can buy. But I told him to wait until June when most "Newbie" gun owners were having their fun in the sun, vacation's, outside recreation. Then we strike. I told him we will grab all of the 22's we can. And he can grab as many 223's and 5.56's he could afford before hunting season and fall begin's.
