I would not buy a Barney gun if the choice was a nice Blue model, but do want to say that my most accurate DW revolver to date and the best trigger reside in my very first VERY Barney 357 Supermag. I only paid $500.00 for it and it is a range favorite because you can't beat its accuracy and trigger. For what its worth, that revolver won't leave my collection.

I haven't seen a M40 that wasn't plum yet. And mine is a straight shooter also. Definitely a keeper !! I do see more large frames than small barney for whatever reason.

This is not an easy question. My first DW was a Barney 44. Still have it. Will never sell it. However, I did not have a choice to pick that gun versus a "Blue" one. In fact, I have never been faced with that choice on any of my purchases of DWs. I would not reject a gun simply because it is Barney unless I was trying to buy a for sure NIB unfired "collector's gun", which is not likely to happen anyway. I buy guns to shoot and Barney does not affect that purpose.
A flawless mirror finish blue/black DW is beautiful and desirable to own. I do have one like that, but I also shoot it and I am unlikely to ever sell it. I like DWs and Barneys are part of the charm. Not ugly, just different.

My M40 is slightly Barney'd in direct sunlight. Indoors, it's just mile-deep bluing.
In general, I don't mind Barney guns...to a point. The ones that are practically pink is where I draw the line. Actually, I'd like to find a pink M40 that's in good shape & have that baby nickled!
