Hey all-just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I recently made a deal to purchase a DW .22lr and the seller asked that I pay him with a postal money order. I purchased the money order and sent it to him with the FLL via priority mail (thanfully I paid for tracking). The mail has been lost and it may take 60 days for a refund on the Money Order. Now if I had sent a cashiers check from my bank I could have the check stopped and a new one issued in 10 minutes. Just an FYI

I've been using USPS MO's over many years…if I am making a substantial purchase…$200 and up, I'll spring for a Fed Ex letter.
With my my business ,I do a lot of shipping and will not use US mail…..one insured package valued at $800 was lost and you are not allowed to make a claim for 90 days. Again, UPS or FED EX get my business.
If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

Nothing's perfect, really. When I bought my SuperMag, I sent a cashier's check in a FedEx envelope...they lost it. It took me almost a full two weeks to finally get it ironed out & get the seller his money. I'm just glad he was a standup guy & patient, because he could have easily sold the gun to someone else who didn't have spasdic problems getting him his money.
The next gun purchase, I had my bank wire the seller his money & I e-mailed my FFL copy to him...no muss, no fuss.

Thanks to our new President things have changed, it is tough to send and receive funds, every one wants cash. My bank will hold a cashers check for 15 days, they can be fake like everything eles, I have seen some pretty phoney ones, but they were good. I prefer to get USPS money orders, that way I can check them right away to see if they are good. I will only send USPS money orders. but if it is over $3,000.00 you need to fill out paper work. The tougher the economey gets the more fake checks will be out their, if a deal seems to good, maby it's a scam.
Thanks, pikepoola1racer
