You guys might not know that I'm a book junkie. So it's time for me to confess. I just added another one to my colection with the help of a friend. I have only had it for 3 days and have already read 1/3 of it. Anyway, the silhouette game was instrumental in the development of alot of the bigger guns/cartridges and different platforms that we enjoy hunting with today. Reading the old books give you a grerat knowledge of thier development.
Some of the best references on the silhouette guns and the sport. The top two are by Elgin Gates the father of IHMSA. Left was published in 1979, and the one on the right was an update in 1988. “Shooting Steel” is a compilation of articles from the IHMSA paper from 1977 to 1986. Bottom right is a reloading guide signature edition for the member of IHMSA. Lots of good load data and theory.
I was talking to Charger Fan earlier today about his post on the cartride ID. I have a modest collectio, nothing close to Dean but more than the average guy. I also have a decent collection of books on the subject. Here are some I find helpful in identifying and finding information on them.
The top two are great with cartridge drawings and dimensions. I'm sure everyone has seen the lower left book or a version of it. Cartridges of the World is in it's 11th edition. The bottom right is a compilation of wildcat cartridge articles from the pages of Handloader Magazine. Great info and load data.

Here's link to a previous topic with more "Must Have Books"

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for the cool book pics & descriptions, I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for some fo those. I've currently got the 'ol feelers out for the 2nd edition of Metallic Silhouette Shooting...gotta have that one.
Sorry, I should have found the other book thread & bumped it for ya. I was pretty distracted by work earlier, or I would have thought of it.
